For today’s review, I take a look at the first, and currently only, Funko Rock Candy from the Doctor Who line. Exclusive to Fan Expo Canada and Barnes and Noble stores this past summer, here is Amy Pond, companion to the Eleventh Doctor.
Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan in the television series, has previously been featured by Funko in a Pop! Vinyl of her in her police uniform. However, this is the first Rock Candy of the character, and also the first Rock Candy in the Doctor Who line… the Thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker, was also recently released in Rock Candy form. I would love to see the line expanded even more to feature other females from the series like Rose Tyler, Bill Potts, and Clara Oswald.
I am a Whovian, and have a collection focused on both Funko Pop! Vinyls and Titan figures from Titan Merchandise. While this version of a character is a little more stylized than either other those products, Amy Pond is probably one of the top companions of the new series run for me, so I knew I had to get her when I saw her in a local Barnes & Noble.
Overall, a great addition to my Doctor Who collection, and I look forward to adding more Rock Candy figures to it in the future.
