Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss Pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything Pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion and the final Flashback Friday of 2018. Agent Carter from the Agent Carter set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.
Agent Carter was a series based on Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger. The series followed Peggy as she worked her way up the ladder as an Agent in a time when there were few, if any female agents. She often teamed up with Howard Stark on several occasions along with his butler Jarvis to solve cases. The series debuted in 2015 and ran for two seasons for a total of eighteen episodes. Solid reviews couldn’t keep the show afloat and it was eventually cancelled in 2016. Agent Carter was created to fill in that winter gap when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. went on hiatus for eight to ten weeks. What’s interesting is that Peggy Carter has only been in one film but she’s had cameos as mostly flashbacks with Steve in a few others. Which makes it surprising that the character is such a huge fan favorite.
Unfortunately, Funko never really created a Captain America: First Avenger set so Peggy never got the Pop treatment she deserved. However, they eventually gave the fans three Pops from her TV series so anyone dying for a Peggy Carter Pop was able to add her to their collection. The sepia tone variant featured in this article was exclusive to Amazon in 2016. It’s a cool looking design because the color is sort of a throwback to the time period in which she soared and broke barriers. The character has had an immense impact on Steve Rogers for the brief time they were together and she continues to shape the kind of person Steve has become. Her impact has been felt throughout the MCU and the fan support really shows how important Agent Carter was and continues to be.
Answer the two trivia questions below and choose an MCU Pop that I haven’t covered in a Flashback Friday article. Leave your answers and choice in the comments section. If you’re answers are correct I will choose a random person with the correct responses and their choice will be in a future article. This week’s trivia will come from Agent Carter.
Question 1: Howard Stark is the father to which Marvel character?
Question 2: What’s the name of Howard Stark’s butler?
