Custom Corner: Delgado's Day of the Dead

These days we’re surrounded by nods to the dead (and undead) in popular culture, from zombies to the supernatural and beyond, but take it back past this current influx of walking dead and you’ll find Dia de los Muertos, a three-day celebration created to honor the dead that goes back thousands of years.  At the center of the two is Admyer Delgado, combining pop culture with wispy designs that capture the spirit of Day of the Dead while showcasing each POP character’s personality.

Custom Corner: Delgado's Day of the DeadFrom Delgado’s signature looped mouth to the pinprick-sized dots swirling around the figure, the details on these vinyls are astonishingly intricate; even the tiniest of dots has depth and perspective.  While Delgado is inspired by tattoo designs, her designs still joyfully capture the traditional values incorporated in Day of the Dead images, clearly representing the spirit and personality of each character.  For example, the geometric pattern marking the back of Dumbo’s head is reminiscent of a circus tent, while the bat marking Batman’s forehead emphasizes his own bat inspiration.
