Today, I take a look at one of this summer’s Convention Exclusive Pop! Vinyls from Funko. A shared exclusive between San Diego Comic Con and Hot Topic stores, here is Quasimodo from Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame holding one of his gargoyle friends (who goes by the named Hugo in the movie).

Although Disney’s version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame takes a LOT of liberties and artistic license with the source material in order to make it more “family-friendly”, the movie is personally one of my favorites from the 90’s “Renaissance” of Disney Animation. I especially love the character of Quasimodo, as growing up I saw part of him in me. His song “Out There” was especially poignant to me.

Since Quasimodo’s gargoyle friends (there are three in the movie… along with Hugo, there are Victor and Laverne) are only “alive” when Quasi is alone with them, Hugo appears here in his stone state, along with the Ace of Hearts card, which is from the musical number “A Guy Like You”… “You’re Aces, Kid!”.

Overall, I really enjoy this Pop! Vinyl. I am guessing that a line of The Hunchback of Notre Dame Pop! Vinyls from Funko isn’t in the cards, as this first one from the movie was an exclusive. However, I have been known to be wrong before. I would love to see the rest of the characters in this movie make it it Pop! form, including a Gargoyles 3pk, Esmeralda with her goat Djali, Phoebus, Maximus, and the menacing Frollo.

Did you pick up this Pop! Vinyl for your collection this summer? What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments below.
