For today’s review, I take a look at one of the Select Collection releases of Wicked Cool Toys new Pokemon line. Wicked Cool Toys recently debuted this line in 2018, will continue to grow it in 2019, and features scaled versions of numerous Pokemon from the different Generations. Along with that comes the Select Collection, six fan-favorite Pokemon figures in the 2″ scale that come displayed in a special case. Included in this collection are Litten, Rowlet, Pikachu, Eevee, Goomy, and the one that Wicked Coll Toys sent me to review: Popplio.

Popplio is the Water- Starter Pokemon in the most recent generation of Pokemon to debut. Featured first in the Pokemon Sun & Moon games, Popplio was one of 88 new Pokemon in Generation VII.

While I have yet to play either Pokemon Sun or Pokemon Moon, I do know Popplio from the Pokemon Mobile game Magikarp Jump. I have always been a fan of the Water-Starter Pokemon, my favorite one Piplup, the penguin. However, Popplio ranks up there as a top one in terms of design for me. I do appreciate the clown seal pup approach to his design.

Overall, when I saw Wicked Cool Toys’ setup of their new Pokemon line earlier this year at Toy Fair, I was very impressed with it. I feel that these figures are very well designed, and I am really liking how they are keeping to the scaling of the figures in terms of battling… something that has been a challenge in the past for other companies. While I won’t be collecting every single one of the figures, I will be adding more to Popplio here when I can.

If you are interested in adding some of Wicked Coll Toys’ Pokemon line to your collection, check out our friends over at Entertainment Earth, who carry a selection of them.
