Today, I take a closer look at one of the Mister Rogers releases, based off the title character of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and humanitarian, Fred Rogers. Exclusive to Barnes & Noble locations here in the US, this Pop! features Mister Rogers with King Friday XIII, one of his more popular puppets used on the show.
I grew up watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood on PBS, and knew how much Rogers did for children’s programming over his tenure on TV. When the 50th Anniversary of the show came about this year, I was happy to hear that Funko decided to honor Rogers (who passed away in 2003) and the show in this manor. Watching the show, I especially enjoyed the trips to the “Neighborhood of Make-Believe”, where King Friday XIII ruled. When Funko announced that Barnes & Noble was going to carry an exclusive featuring the King with Rogers, I knew I wanted it for my collection.
A great tribute to someone who spent over fifty years on TV educating and shaping the minds of children… something I personally believe I am a better person for.
Thank you, Funko.
