Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion. Ant-Man from the Ant-Man set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.

Ant-Man
#87 Unmasked Ant Man with Actual Size Ant Man (Marvel Collector Corps)

Discussion: After a wedding and attending a large event I’m finally back. We are now in July and that brings the release of Marvel’s final MCU film of the year which is Ant-Man and the Wasp which opened last weekend. So I thought it would be cool to revisit the first film in the franchise. Ant-Man is the smallest hero within the MCU (besides Wasp) and I remember thinking how cool would it be if Funko gave us a super small-sized Ant-Man. We didn’t have to wait too long to find out thanks to Marvel Collector Corps. Anyone signed up for their bi-monthly subscription received something pretty darn awesome in the Ant-Man box. Opening the box I find some nice Ant-Man related items but of course the star of the box is the Pop Vinyl. It’s here, we get probably my personal favorite Ant-Man because the normal size Pop comes with a small-sized version of the character. I don’t know about anyone else but I started taking pictures of the small Ant-Man with normal sized objects and I was having a blast.

Ant-Man Pop Vinyl #87 was exclusively available through the Marvel Collector Corps subscription service. They used to have a website where you could setup your service but now you can do it directly through Amazon. It’s a big move for Funko to get Amazon to become the direct handler for the MCC. The subscription for bi-monthly boxes when I signed up several years ago was $30.00 per box or you could pay annually. I don’t think you’re able to purchase the Ant-Man box anymore so you’ll need to purchase the Pop from a different source. Checking recent eBay sold listings it looks like this Ant-Man is going for $20.00-$30.00. I’d say if you can pick it up for about $25.00 you’re doing good. I expect this to continue to increase in value especially with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp this month. It’s definitely better to purchase it while the price is still fairly reasonable.

Trivia: Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and win. If you become the weekly champion you must choose a Pop within the MCU that has not been featured in the Flashback Friday series and post it after your answers. The questions are from Ant-Man.

Q1: Name the two people in the film who donned the Ant-Man suit.

Q2: What’s the name of the antagonist for Ant-Man in the film?

I hope you enjoyed this week’s column. Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday and don’t forget to join our Facebook group. Excelsior!

I've been an avid Pop MCU collector for the last few years. I've recently focused my collection on Captain America Funko products since he's my favorite Marvel superhero. I've also been collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card game for the last decade. I also run and judge events. I'm into Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Disney, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and WWE.
