Flashback Friday – Shuri

Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion. Shuri from the Black Panther set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.

Discussion: Black Panther was released nationwide in February 2018 and will most likely remain the highest grossing domestic release of the year. The film hit all four quadrants and then some and became such a massive worldwide hit. The success of the film definitely surprised me and one of the characters that really resonated with audiences is Shuri, the younger sister of T’Challa. Shuri is one of the most brilliant characters within the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. She may be the smartest based on her broad knowledge of the technological advances in Wakanda. The Black Panther suit(s) were created by Shuri and I’d say she has to be an expert in everything vibranium. What really made the character stand out is her personality. The interactions with her brother, Okoye, and Nakia are fantastic. Shuri is a standout character and I look forward to see her role evolve in future films.

Shuri was released in late 2017 with only one Pop at least in the first wave of reveals. She was not an exclusive so adding it to the collection should be relatively easy. Shuri can be found through multiple online and brick and motor retailers. $10.00 to $15.00 is what you should expect to pay. Now this version is how she dresses for the ceremony with T’Challa towards the beginning of the film. I anticipate this will not be the only Shuri Pop from the Black Panther set. She has several different looks throughout the film so it would make sense to release more versions of the character especially due to her popularity. I’ve talked to many people regarding the characters and most of them say Shuri stole the film along with Okoye and Erik Killmonger.
