Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion which was chosen by Joshua for answering the Guardians of the Galaxy trivia questions from last week. Ant-Man and his trusty friend Ant-thony fly in for this week’s discussion.

Discussion: I knew very little about the Ant-Man character when it was announced that Marvel Studios would be adding a solo origin film to their ever growing universe. The announcement didn’t really get me excited at all for the movie but I was curious as to what they were going to do and how to make the character more main stream. I remember there was a lot of controversy when they lost their original director but they kept pushing forward and got the film made. When Paul Rudd was cast as Steven Lang I became more excited because he’s a funny guy which told me they were taking the film in a direction I didn’t expect. Again, I didn’t know anything about Steven Lang but I knew when they included Hank Pym which I knew a little about from some video games that he was going to be the mentor.

I can honestly say that I was fairly surprised at how much I enjoyed Ant-Man and especially his relationship with Ant-thony. The two were pretty inseparable and they rocked it together on missions. I know I shouldn’t be surprised that Funko created an Ant-thony for the Pop Rides line but I totally was. When I first saw it in Hot Topic I was like that is super cool and I couldn’t pass it up. I dropped like $20.00 or $25.00 on it and added it to my complete Ant-Man pop MCU collection. It’s hanging from my ceiling and it looks like he’s flying through the air. From a creative standpoint I think its top notch. It looks great from close up and afar. I’m hoping in the future that Funko gives us some really cool MCU Pop Rides because the two they’ve done so far have been spectacular.

If you’re into Ant-Man at all and collect pops I think this one is a must have for your collection. I know it wasn’t exclusive to Hot Topic but that’s the only place I can remember seeing it. Most online sites you can purchase this from will probably run from $20.00 to $30.00 plus tax and shipping. The demand isn’t high enough right now that I’d pay more than $30.00 for it. You should definitely check out our Facebook group for all of your Funko needs. Make sure to check out the trivia questions below for a chance to select next week’s featured pop.

Trivia: Welcome to the trivia section. Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and you get to choose next week’s pop. This week’s questions will come from Ant-Man.

Q1: Scott’s brief work at Baskin-Robbins was originally going to be at which company? The company backed out because they did not like the negative portrayal.

Q2: The laser sounds from Yellowjacket’s suit are the same sound as the main gun from what? It’s something from the Star Wars franchise.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s article. Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday and as always Excelsior!

I've been an avid Pop MCU collector for the last few years. I've recently focused my collection on Captain America Funko products since he's my favorite Marvel superhero. I've also been collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card game for the last decade. I also run and judge events. I'm into Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Disney, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and WWE.

  1. I just picked this up on eBay! Can’t wait for it to arrive! Thanks for doing the profile on it!

    Q1: Chipotle
    Q2: the AT-AT

  2. 1: chipotle

    2: AT-AT walker

I would like the next character to be cable from the X-Men

  3. @Joshua That’s awesome! Hopefully you didn’t have to pay too much for it. Your answers are correct and you were the first to respond so you get to chose this weeks MCU pop.

@Dylan Both answers are correct but Josh beat you to it. Thanks for participating and check back for Friday’s trivia questions. Also, if you win please pick an MCU pop. Cable is not currently part of the MCU.

  4. I think I got a good deal, I basically spent retail price + $4 shipping.

Please do the Winter Soldier for this week (since that was my second pick last week).
