14642568_10101082559279815_1108713001_nHey everyone! It’s time for another edition of the Highlight right here on PopVinyls.Com! I know I’ve been gone for a while and I apologize. Life has been a little crazy the past month with weddings, funerals, and other stuff that has just taken me away from stuff like this, but hey I’m here now and you’re here now so there’s no time like the present! The Highlight is brought to you by Eddie from Eddie’s Toy Box (that’s me!) and some of you may know me as @Esbjo_Figs (From Instagram!) but even that’s changed now! My new Instagram name (Same page though) is @EddiesToyBox… because it only made sense to make that transition! The Highlight showcases some of my favorite photos from my collection and a little insight as to why I created them. This week we’re checking out some of the Gears of War Pops!

“Never Fight Alone”

Marcus Fenix (SDCC Excl) and JD Fenix from the Pop! Games series

So, I originally just took this picture because I put a bunch of Pops in a backpack and went to the local park and these two were part of that bunch. Riveting stuff I know. But Marcus and his son JD are teaming up for the latest installment of the Gears of War franchise so why not team up for a pop photo? I love that Marcus is just holding the baby Locust head looking at JD like “Where’s yours?”, but the tagline of the photo “Never Fight Alone” comes straight from the marketing for the game. If an army of Locust are rising up. Team up with someone, even your son, and never fight alone. And… get a Locust head JD before you embarrass your dad any further.

“All shall fall before the Horde.”

Locust from the Pop! Games Gears of War series.

For this shot I found a hollowed out tree and wanted to go for a creepy background against the even creepier Pop. I love the paint application on the Locust’s eyes here. The yellow really makes the pop stand out and it’s really a sight to see in person. I love the way this shot came out too. Simplistic enough yet it captures the wonderfulness of the sculpt of the Pop. Get yourself a Locust today!

“Don’t make any sudden movements….”

Carmine and Locust from the Pop! Games Gears of War series.

This was another shot I took at the park that day and I love the way this one came out. It’s probably my favorite in the series. It shows just how much you can do with Pops even if they lack articulation and can’t be posed like most “Action Figures”. This is a spot where two trees almost connect forming a perfect path between the two for the Locust to emerge searching out the Gears version of Kenny from South Park. Carmine! The tree Carmine is against actually sticks out so that from the Locust point of view… if he had one (it’s a toy!) he wouldn’t be able to see him from that angle. So it made for a perfect picture! And I hope you guys like it as much as I do!

And that’s all the time I have for you tonight! Can you believe it’s almost been two years since I started this column?
