Game of Thrones, the smash hit HBO television show, returned last week to record ratings, so it’s only fitting that Funko continue to crank out the GoT products! Next to debut will be the first series of dorbz! Featuring 5 of the show’s best characters, fans old and new will undoubtedly be picking some of these up. Let’s take a closer look at each one!
First in the wave is Lord Eddard (Ned) Stark. Without spoiling anything, he is the main protagonist of season one, making this a great addition for any fan who has been watching since the beginning. He is wearing his signature armor outfit with a sword and his hair is spot-on. It is yet to be determined whether or not Funko has any chase figures in this set, but if they do, this is definitely the figure it should be with – you all know what I’m talking about! 😉
Next we have Tyrion Lannister, fan-favorite funny man who never shys away from giving his brutal opinions. He is seen with his traditional red vest and has no weapon. His hair is perfect as well. Funko also opted to have the dorbz showcase Tyrion’s scar, which is different from the first pop version of the character, but not surprising since he’s now had it for a while. I’m sure every GoT fan will be grabbing this guy.
Third in the wave is Jon Snow, everyone’s favorite moral Night’s Watch guard. The controversy surrounding his character’s fate this season has thrust him even further in fan-favorite territory and regardless of whether or not he somehow lives on, this figure is a must-have. Seen in his garb from the Night’s Watch, with his sword and cape, this perfectly captures Jon’s likeness. I definitely already have mine on preorder! Grab yours too.
Next is Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, Queen of the Andals, The Unburnt, Queen of Mereen, and Khaleesi to the great Khal Drogo. Lol. No, but seriously, you’d be hard to find a viewer of GoT that does not love Daenerys and of course she has to be in the first wave of the dorbz. Unlike her first pop version, she is seen in her blue Mereen dress from her Mhyssa era. As my personal favorite of Dany’s looks, I’m glad Funko went with this blue dress and cape look. Her hair is tied back adorably and her expression is precious. Gotta love Dany and this figure!
Finally we have the newest big-bad in Westerosi lore, the Night’s King. Leader of the White Walkers, we have yet to see just how much havoc this monster will wreak upon our beloved characters. What makes this dorbz so great is that it cute-ifies a terrifying villain and makes me really like his look. Complete with armor, his horns, and his cracked skull, the Night’s King dorbz is just plain awesome.
As the first of what I hope to be MANY dorbz waves of Game of Thrones, I think Funko did a great job. What do you think? Who do you hope makes it to dorbz form next?
