As per usual, Funko and the Marvel Collector Corps team sent a complimentary review box to our office. Due to the contents, I also am including the box I purchased in this review.

For starters, I make no bones about the fact that I wasn’t a collector of Marvel Pop! VInyls before Collector Corps debuted earlier this year. The quality of these boxes made me a Marvel collector. In fact, I’m over 50 Marvel Pops at the moment. This consistent quality also makes MCC the clear leader in the subscription box wars in my eyes.

When I opened both boxes, I was happy to see that I got the Morbius and Zombie Morbius. If you do not know, you would get one of the two designs in your box. Some people have whined about this. Others have cried about the character. Both complaints are ridiculous to me. If you don’t know who Morbius is, I would take this opportunity to read about the guy.  I for one appreciate the fact that MCC delved deep into the Marvel Universe to find an awesome character that isn’t overly exposed. As for the “regular vs Zombie complaint” I don’t think it will be too hard to get the other if you truly want it.  Adding a “chase” quality to the box is another plus in my eyes. They didn’t put an insanely popular character in the box so I’m sure Funko understood that if this was Green Goblin, for example, that might cause a bit more complaints. Boxes are “mystery boxes” and if that includes having different odds of getting a shirt design as in the the Avengers box or different mystery minis in the Ant Man box, I say good on Funko. I am not a completist but if I hadn’t got both designs, I wouldn’t feel this underlying urge to sell my first born to get the other. I think Funko played the “chase” option wisely. As for the secondary item, we get a Loki Dorbz. The Dorbz line has really grown on me and I’m happy this was the extra part of the box!

I don’t really read comics but due to MCC, I have a nice growing collection that I plan on saving for my son once I read them. I have no idea how old the story is but I like the art work and will probably buy more in the future.

Let me go back for minute and talk about my “underrated” aspect of these boxes. I LOVE THE PINS AND PATCHES.  When year one is complete, I am going to make a shadow box of all the different patches and pins. Individually they might not look like much but as a group, they will be great.mcc6 mcc9 mcc10

The shirt does what it should: includes a butt load of Villains.  Now personally, I would rather not have the Marvel logo as the focus but it works. I’m glad we get Loki and the Green Goblin on the shirt. Those are my favorite Marvel Villians.

This month again is a sure fire winner and makes MCC the most consistent and best of the sub boxes. If you haven’t subscribed yet, click to sign up for the next box which is themed after Guardians of the Galaxy.
