i barely escaped from that Goliath with my life in tact. It took over a week to get back to this point. A point where I feel safe enough to talk to you about it. That’s why Thursday Night Highlight was on a hiatus last week because I just needed the time to be with loved ones and to just reflect on that life changing moment in my backyard. Seriously guys. Goliath’s could be anywhere. Be aware of your surroundings and know what to do in that situation. Now that we’ve got that out of the way… Thursday Night Highlight is brought to you by Eddie from Eddie’s Toy Box (Youtube channel naturally.) or as most of you know by @Esbjo_Figs from Instagram! It’s a weekly column showcasing some of my favorite photos of the week and telling you just why I picked them and what the inspiration was behind them. That photo up there? Besides being an excuse for site issues last week… is the gimmie! I’ve never played Evolve, but the Goliath Pop is amazingly detailed and awesome so I’ve incorporated it into a number of shots so far for that reason alone. Let’s get on with the rest of the photos!

“Time for some surf and turf.”

Nemo, Dory, and Bruce from the Pop! Disney Finding Nemo series. So obviously I didn’t take that picture up top (Gasp!) I had my wife take it, as well as this one, and I put the finishing touches on both. Hey what can I say? I like to interject myself into my art. It helps. So, the inspiration for this one came to me when I saw I’d be cooking steaks on the grill that night and hadn’t really done anything with the Finding Nemo pops. To be honest I’m not a huge fan of them, but Finding Nemo is a great movie so I give it the benefit of the doubt. So, surf and turf was on the menu! Some of you may ask “Where’s Squirt?” and I’d reply “He’s on the menu for when Shredder comes over for dinner.”.

“Please Precious… give us the fish WE NEEDS IT!”

Bored Silly Kevin from the Pop! Movies line Minions series and Gollum from the Pop! Movies line Lord of the Rings series. When I purchased Bored Silly Kevin this is the first thing that entered my mind when I saw the fish placed in his hand. Gollum is an iconic character and there’s a scene in one of the movies where Gollum is singing a song about wanting to catch a fish so juicy sweeeeeet. So I had to figure out a way to bring my vision to a photo with making Gollum lingering behind Kevin in hopes he’ll release his grasp of the fish. Sadly Gollum… it was sculpted there and is never coming off. Sorry bud.

“They do not approve of the Au Naturel look.”

Au Naturel from the Pop! Movies Minions line and Hot Topic exclusives Hipster Jasmine, Hipster Ariel, and Hipster Belle from the Pop! Disney line. Another minions photo! I wanted to do something with the three Hipster princesses before saying goodbye to them (they’re gone!) and this was what I could think of when Au Naturel was sitting on my desk after doing a review on him for my channel. I thought who would get the most appreciation out of a basically naked minion with just a leaf covering his essentials? Well, the Hipsters would probably have a funny reaction to that. I’m not a huge fan of putting word bubbles in my photos, but from time to time they’re a necessary evil to get the point across and I think for this photo it just works. You can check out my review of the Hipsters and Au Naturel Minion here —>

And that’s all the time I have for you tonight guys! So sorry for leaving you all hanging last week. I’m sure you missed me… right? Please don’t say you didn’t even notice I was gone that’ll break what’s left of my heart. On a more serious note though I want to thank each and every one of you that do show support to my many avenues I post on and what I create. It really does mean a lot to me that people enjoy my work and reading your comments is always an amazing feeling. So thank you. If you liked those photos up there look for more of my work on my Instagram page (www.instagram.com/esbjo_figs) and as always subscribe to my Youtube Channel: Eddie’s Toy Box by clicking the link in my signature down below.
