Popvinyls.com Readers! Assemble! Or… ya know… gather around because it’s time for Thursday Night Highlight! Let me start off by saying that my Avengers theme was a huge success last week, and by that I mean I didn’t lose any followers and you guys didn’t say “please for the love of Odin move on!” (See what I did there?). Anyway Thursday Night Highlight is brought to you as always by Esbjo_Figs over on Instagram! Hooray! I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been doing this column since October, but you guys are starting to recognize me in passing over on Facebook and that’s starting to make me feel like I’m Popvinyl Famous! Just kidding… it is good to know that there are people out there reading this! I’m bringing you three of my favorite photos of the week and that one up there is the freebie! A special Avengers photo to close out my last two columns that were strictly Avengers themed. This week we’re switching it up and showcasing Pops and Mystery Minis! So without any further delay let’s proceed with the good stuff… not that what I just wrote isn’t good… it is… but ah I ramble let’s do it!

“Revenge of the Fifth is coming…”

Darth Vader and The Emperor from the Pop! Star Wars line. Okay let’s address the madness that was May 4th 2015. GameStop released their exclusive Star Wars Pops and utter chaos ensued. Everywhere you looked people were trying to sell you their Gamestop Pops… all on the same day! Ah. The beauty of a newly released Pop is something isn’t it? I will give Gamestop credit though. Unlike Walmart, Target, or Hot Topic they released their exclusives nationwide on the same exact day! But I digress. May the Fourth be with you has taken a life of it’s own and has become a Star Wars holiday. Naturally… us Sith Lords not to be outdone have claimed May 5th as our own. Revenge of the 5th! So I’ve taken the two baddest mamma jammas in the Galaxy and paired them up with an army of storm troopers. Oh…  and side note I think Gamestop.com still has some of those exclusives available for retail. That or check out forbiddenplanet.com! Don’t give in to the darkside of collecting!

“Its a nice day for a walk with the kids.”

Khalessi, Rhaegal, Viserion, and Drogon from Series 2 of the Game of Thrones Mystery Minis. Alright. There was a nice column earlier in the week here about cherry picking mystery minis. I’ll admit I’m to blame for cherry picking, but I’m not exactly sorry about it. BUT for good reason! The drawer of my nightstand has become a breeding ground for mystery minis doubles, triples, and so on and so on. So yes… I’ll shake the box like I’m in that Taylor Swift song. That’s how I got those dragons up there. Logic suggests that the dragons are not going to be as light as the rest of the characters in the line up. Certainly not Tyrion or Wight anyway oh and the green dragon is a Hot Topic Exclusive. So, once I opened up Dany I knew I had to capture her with her babies and thats what the inspiration for this photo was. Just a mom walking her kids. Her very dangerous hostile scaley kids.

“Run. Runaway Scar and never come back.”

Scar and Simba from the Disney Heroes Vs. Villains Mystery Mini set, both Hot Topic Exclusives. I actually just posted this picture last night and it was a spur of the moment kind of thing. After unboxing them for my Youtube channel I knew I had to do something with this Uncle and Nephew pair, and they’re already posed as if they want to rip each others heads off so what better way then to try to recreate the finale of The Lion King? I tried to put flames in there, but I didn’t want to take up the photo too much because the close up of them is what does it for the picture. So I put the flames faded. I think it drove the point home more that way. Oh and don’t bother trying to cherry pick the Heroes Vs. Villians set. They’re all insanely heavy and they’re all way too big. I’m calling them Mystery Mediums. I thought I had Marshmallow but NOPE… Just Rapunzel and her long long long hair. Funko knocked it out of the park with this set though! Hakuna Matata!
