Good evening everybody! It’s that special time of the week again where you and I get together and highlight some of the best photos from my Instagram account (@Esbjo_Figs) from the past week. “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? Laughable.”
Ultron from the Pop! Marvel Age of Ultron Series, and a slew of Avengers AoU mystery minis from the Hot Topic Exclusive case. I have an Ultron mystery mini, because well I purchased a whole case from Hot Topic using my Hot Cash, but that mini wouldn’t have driven the point home in this photo. I wanted to show Ultron standing above our fallen heroes because let’s face it… there’s gotta be some point in the film where something to this extent happens. There just has to be. Our heroes will have to retreat, regroup, and come back with a vengeance, but at some point Ultron will have the upper hand. It’s just how movies like these work. Sure the Thor mystery mini looks like he can’t be bothered with the photo and he’d rather be somewhere else, but that’s besides the point! Oh, and today Funko retweeted this photo on their account and promptly blew up my cell phone battery with all the notifications that came in from others retweeting it. This must be why celebrities have multiple phones… that or they definitely have their notifications turned off.
“Assemble.”
The Avengers AoU Mystery Minis included the Hot Topic Exclusive Metallic Iron Man and Blue Suit Black Widow. Here’s a traditional group shot of our heroes minus the Vision, and Nick Fury. The original six. The OGs! I wanted to take a picture of them all together and this is the end result. Put them on a picnic table, brushed off the judgmental stares from my neighbors and just snapped the photo a hundred times to ensure I got the best one. So there’s the team. I know I swore off mystery minis and said I’d only collect Frozen and the Walking Dead, but hey… sometimes Avengers mystery minis come out and just blow you away. This whole line has been impressive and Funko really knocked it out of the park with the Age of Ultron series. Now if only they could stop with all the variants…
“How could you be worthy? You’re all puppets tangled up in strings.”
The Big Bad himself Ultron from the Avengers Age of Ultron series! This is probably (with the exception of the Hulkbuster) my absolute favorite mini in the line. Just look at him. The sculpt is incredible. The evolution of the mystery mini is something to behold. Compare this to the mystery mini of Mickey Mouse to see just how far they’ve come. Impressive work as always and the future continues to look bright for the mystery mini line. Sure there are some photoshop edits in this photo, but the sky and the clouds… that was all like that. I just highlighted it more, but that is the sun setting behind the clouds behind him and it really made for an ominous shot. I love it. Love it so much it’s my Instagram profile picture. Heck I might even make it my personal facebook photo and tell friends and family I’m just some kind of self-aware robot plotting to take over the world.
