“Do the magic! Do the magic!”

Evening everyone! It’s that time again! Thursday Night Highlight is upon us and brought to you by Esbjo_Figs over on Instagram. This weeks edition of T.N.H. is brought to you by Funko Mystery Minis. See that picture up there? Do the magic! That’s what these things are to me. Magic. I swore off mystery minis months ago because I just couldn’t bring myself to purchase these blind items anymore. I had so many Ned Stark mystery minis that the Red Wedding wasn’t even sad to me anymore. I still have a drawer full of doubles, and triples! So I said no more! Like Gandalf I stood in front of my wallet and saw the mystery minis coming and with great authority I slammed the staff down and said “You shall not pass!” and then Funko did the magic and well… I found myself buying a case of Frozen mystery minis from Hot Topic, and even more of the Walking Dead series 3 online. So… yea… Funko do the magic…

“Building a snowman.”

Elsa from the Frozen Mystery Mini series, and Snowman Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas Mystery Mini series. There are multiple Elsa’s in the Frozen series and another one is going to be featured below, but this one is in her trademark making snow pose? Is that what you would call that pose? I don’t know. I’m going with it. If you choose to go with it too then it’ll make me feel better. Anyway when I posted this picture on Instagram I had a long description for it. Elsa, having run away after revealing her powers to the kingdom of Arrendelle does the very thing her sister had asked her to do for over a decade. Build a snowman. Without her. Because that’s exactly what happens in the movie. Elsa belts out her empowering tune and let’s it all go and builds a snowman without Anna. Yes in the movie it’s Olaf. Yes there is an Olaf mystery mini, but in my defense I didn’t have one at the time and look how happy Jack is up there. He’s loving every minute of it.

“Marshmallow says relax.”

Queen Marshmallow from the Frozen Mystery Mini series. Would you look at that! When you buy a whole case of mystery minis you better be lucky enough to pull one of the rarer ones. Otherwise the term “going postal” would really make a lot of sense to you. This is one of the 1 in 72s. The other being the troll Pabby. If you happen to stumble upon these mystery minis in the wild I’ll let you in on a little secret. Marshmallow weighs as much as a Pop would. So just imagine a Pop inside of that small box. If you pick up one of the boxes and immediately you have to check your strength because you didn’t anticipate a mystery mini being so heavy… chances are that guy is in there. Now there is another Marshmallow variant a more common one, and he’s just as heavy so don’t get mad at the store clerk when you’re frantically opening the box while holding up the line and the angry Marshmallow pops out. There are two of them. I’ve let you in on the secret, but really… he’s gigantic. This is from my kids favorite scene of the movie, which spoiler alert, is after the end credits. Marshmallow finds Elsa’s crown… puts it on his head, and instantly relaxes. I think I need that crown.

“Let the storm rage OOOOOOOOON.”

Elsa from the Frozen mystery mini series. I told you there’d be another Elsa featured today! There she is. This was actually the first picture I took and the first mystery mini I pulled from a box. This is how I know I have a problem with this little hobby of mine. It was daylight and I was just waiting for the sun to set to take this photo and try to recapture the moment in the song “Let it Go” that this pose is based off of… I’m assuming it is. Full disclosure. I love all things Frozen. Sue me. Wait no don’t do that… if you won then I’d have no money to spend on more mystery minis because I’m missing a few more. So don’t sue me. Just forget I said that. Let it go.

That’s all the time I have tonight! I hope you enjoyed those pictures up there, and this column. If you want to see the other photos I posted this week then head on over to my Instagram account. The link is provided in my signature below, or you can copy and paste this (www.instagram.com/esbjo_figs) in your browser. I’m also thinking of starting a YouTube channel to review all things toy related so if I do be on the lookout for that! I mentioned a giveaway a few weeks back and I will be getting to that and it may tie in with the YouTube page if that happens. I’ll see you all next week. Same Popvinyl time. Same Popvinyl station. Have a great night, be kind to one another, and free the… mystery minis? You kind of have to otherwise you’ll never know what’s in the box. Life is like a mystery mini. You never know what you’re going to get. Forrest Gump!
