While at Toy Fair, I was able to visit with MD and the team at MINDstyle over at the Toy Tokyo booth and take a look at some of what they are working on over at Pop! Asia. For those of you whole don’t know, Pop! Asia is a company run by MINDstyle over in Southeast Asia (based out of China), which works with Funko to produce products over there that will appeal to the Asian market. Their description: “Exclusive SE Asia Creative, Manufacturing, Sales & Distribution – A Strategic Alliance”. That being said, not all pieces will see the light of day here in the United States. If they do, they will be through the New York based company Toy Tokyo, who is the exclusive retailer of Pop! Asia products in the United States.
From what I can see, Pop! Asia has a lot of fun looking stuff coming out in the future. One hand were brands and properties that I recognized (Pope Francis, Astroboy, Monkey King), and others I find myself at a loss of what I am supposed to see. Obviously, these are created for the Asian market, so there’s that. Some of the designs are top notch. My favorites are the Astro Boy character Pop!s and the Pope Francis products (which I talked about earlier this week regarding their details).

At the booth, they were giving out a few placards, three of which had some really great artwork on them.

I tried to take detailed pictures of all of the Pop! Asia stuff around. I was pretty successful. However, trying to tell you which figure belongs to which property…. trust me, it will come out wrong. Instead, I am going to just post thumbnails of all of the images. There are a lot, so have fun!
