Keep boxes away from direct sunlight
Ultraviolet light fades ink on cardboard and can discolor vinyl over long periods. Display figures away from windows or use UV-filtering sleeves if they sit on open shelves. This follows standard conservation guidance for printed paper and PVC-based collectibles.
Control humidity
High humidity encourages cardboard softening and can contribute to mold in stored collections. The U.S. EPA recommends indoor relative humidity between 30% and 50% for general home comfort and mold prevention. Staying in that range also benefits boxed collectibles in closets or storage units.
Use the right protectors
Rigid plastic protectors (.35 mm to .5 mm PET or acid-free plastic) guard corners against shelf wear. Soft pop protectors work for short-term transport. Avoid non-archival adhesives on boxes if you care about long-term value.
Stacking rules
Never stack heavy items on top of boxed Pops. Weight crushes window panels and deforms lids. Store boxes upright like books, with the largest and heaviest figures on lower shelves.
Out-of-box display
Dust vinyl figures with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid harsh solvents that can dissolve paint apps. Keep displayed figures out of reach of prolonged heat (attics, car dashboards) because vinyl can soften at high temperatures.
