Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss Pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything Pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion. I think it’s only fitting after the Academy Award nominations were released that this week features Erik Killmonger from Black Panther.
Black Panther was released in February 2018. It broke many records over the course of its run and was well received by critics and fans alike. It went on to be the highest grossing domestic release of the year topping such blockbusters as Avengers: Infinity War, Jurassic World 2, and the Incredibles 2. And now as of this week it’s become the only superhero film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Not only is this a great film but a huge part of that is because of the fantastic performance of Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger. What makes Killmonger such a great character is that the audience can sympathize with his situation and understand his motivations.
Erik Killmonger was released wide in the latter part of 2018 in the second or third wave of characters. Just like T’Challa having so many different variations Killmonger has a bunch as well. The one pictured above doesn’t go for a lot because it’s not an exclusive and was widely released. However, if you’re an Erik Killmonger fan, a Black Panther fan, or a Michael B. Jordan fan you should definitely add this to your collection. You should be able to find it at Hot Topic, GameStop, Walmart, Target, and any other retailers that sell Funko products. Amazon and eBay might be simpler options depending on shipping.
Answer the two trivia questions below and choose an MCU Pop that I haven’t covered in a Flashback Friday article. Leave your answers and choice in the comments section. If your answers are correct I will choose a random person with the correct responses and their choice will be featured in a future article. This week’s trivia will come from Black Panther.
