Today, we have news on a new addition to the Funko Star Wars lines. “Movie Moments” will celebrate iconic scenes from Star Wars film. Here’s a photo we were sent that shares one of these moments: Cloud City Duel and it will be a Walgreens Exclusive:
This is the scene when not only does Luke become separated from his hand but also when Darth Vader informs him who his Daddy is! The back of the box gives us clues to future Movie Moments as well.
As you can see, we will also get moments from “Escape Pod Landing”, “Cantina Faceoff”, “Trash Compactor Escape”, and “Death Star Duel.” I can easily se this being a huge success for Funko and more and more of these scenes coming down the road.

This is AMAZING!! Many fans have talked about this concept for Years Now! I’m glad that Funko got the memo of Creating “Famous/Epic Moments”! One thing I SINCERELY Hope for is that WILL NOT be limited to Star Wars! I can see GREAT POTENTIAL in Applying this Concept to the following Genres:
1.) Games
2.) Anime/Animation
3.) TV Shows
If they apply “Famous/Epic Moments” to those Genres, & Truly DO THEIR RESEARCH to find the MOST EPIC moments from the wide variety of Franchises, THESE WILL SELL & Very Quick. Hence, if I were them, I’d lower the price to $20-25 a set. This will be a win-win for Both Funko & the fans, & by lowering the price they’ll get 3-10 times more Sales.
Since these are EPIC Moments, I’d like for them to Put In that work on Quality & Detail of the specific poses/weapons/characters & PAINT JOBS for each Specific EPIC Moment. This is the New age of Funko & “The Generic Pose” is Almost gone Thank the Gods. If they Do this right & Offer reasonable pricing, Funko could become a “Household Name”, Spreading outside of it’s niche demographic. Also, if done Right, they could Become the #1-3 Spot Top-Selling Toy Manufacturing Company!!
I feel like if they expand this outside of Star Wars, this could Very Well be THE NEXT BEST THING!! At the moment, the 2-packs sell FAR LESS than single pops. If Done Right, Capturing the Epicness of the moment, & price lowering, 2-packs could Rival Singles imho!!
I also like how they’ve added the “Stages” or “Platforms”, which I didn’t notice at 1st. Funko has ALWAYS lacked that whole “Background” Aesthetic. DisplayGeek did releash several of the “Backdrops” which Could be Inserted into DisplayGeek shelves, but this is Certainly 1-Upping that. This adds the MUCH-NEEDED “Atmosphere” Aesthetic, so Pops do Not feel out of context. This is a Wonderful Idea!! I don’t follow Star Wars & Do NOT know much about the Lore, but looking at the 4 “Famous Moments” packs, the “Stage Props” add a LOT OF DEPTH to the Scene. This is Such a Great idea, which imo (Should have come out Several Years ago), since this was Widely Talked about and “WANTED” by the fans. Here are My Top 5 “Famous Moments” in NO SPECIFIC ORDER: (I’m an anime Buff, so many of these will be from Anime):
1.) Goku Vs. Vegeta – Release 2 Versions, 1.) their Original Fight (Scouter Vegeta) vs. Kaioken Goku & Make the Prop a Mountain. The Background could be the Natural landscape & some of the “Battle Clashes” involved in that fight. 2.) SS2 Goku vs. SS2 Majin Vegeta is their Next Major Standoff Fight. This one Doesn’t Need too Much Props, but have the “Crackling Electricity” in the Presentation
2.) Naruto Vs. Sasuke – Once Again, 2 Version could be Warranted. 1.) Their Original Fight (12 Year Old Naruto vs. 12 year Old Sasuke). In their Younger fight, give Sasuke the Curse Mark on his Face as well as the Chidori (Lightining Blade) & Make Naruto the 3-4 Tailed Beast Karuma. The Background/Stage for this one is Obvious, The Konoha “Hogake Mountain” with the 4 Faces of Previous Leaf Village Hokages Carved Out. 2.) Their Fight at the End of Shippuden. For this one Leave the Background (just add the face of the 5th Hogake – Lady Tsunade) but make Naruto in “9 Tailed Beast – Sage Mode” & Make Sasuke have a “Partial” Sasunoo’o Prop
3.) Street Fighter – Evil Ryu vs. Akuma. The background for this should be the “Forbidden Temple”. make Evil Ryu have the Satsui no Hado Aura coming off of him (like Dark Red Energy) as well as the Huge Hole in his Chest & Red Eyes. Make Akuma doing his “Demon Armaggedon” Move (If that’s possible)
4.) One Piece – Luffy Vs. Doflamingo – Make Luffy in Gear 4th (Yes this may be Hard), & Doflamingo Using his Awakened Haki. The Background for this should be the Dressrosa Coliseum. I don’ think the fight actually was in the Coliseum, but the ENTIRE Arc was focused around the Dressrosa Coliseum, so that would be the Perfect “Background/Prop”. Also, Include Doffy’s Strings in the BG. As for Luffy, make sure to give his Gear 4th the Detail as Well as the Fumes
5.) The Witcher 3 – Geralt vs. Eredin – This is one of the Final Battles of Witcher 3. Make Eredin’s Helmet half-broken & Battle Damaged. Give him a more Epic sword than the one they gave the Eredin Pop. For Geralt, Give him one of the Games Best Armors. One of the Grandmaster Armors (Likely the Grandmaster Ursine Armor). Give him an Epic Sword. (I can’t say which one, because there are TOO MANY Amazing Blades he Uses in the Game). Make the Background Prop be the Witcher Castle of the School of the Wolf (I forgot the name). Give both Geralt & Eredin Battle Expressions. I feel as though for these Epic Moments, Facial Expressions would be a Great Change to the Normal (Without a Mouth) Funko Generic Facial Expression!!
Those are Just 5 Battles which I like Very Much, most Canon, some semi-Canon. However, as I said I see GREAT POTENTIAL in these “Famous/Epic Moments” 2-pack collections, so they Don’t Need to be Limited to Just Battles. They can Be Get Together’s, Meetings (LoTR), Great Escapes, etc. The More they think outside the Box, the more Grand & Famous the Funko Brand will Become!!
