I have found that one of the coolest aspects about collecting Funko’s Pop! Vinyls is how to diverse the line can be. Your favorite characters from television, movies, and comics are interchangeable with a beloved musician, wrestler, or even an advertising icon. Everyone has their own wish list of figures they’d love to see, and with the ever-expanding waves of exclusives, chases, and even the Specialty Series, I don’t think anything is too much to hope for now.
These are great days to be a Star Wars fan. The saga awakened in force (terrible pun, I know) and the anthology films kicked off with Rogue One. The Han Solo film has acquired one of the most impressive casts to date, Rebels continues to amaze, and the stores are flooded with awesome collectables. Funko has definitely heard the fans and delivered some amazing Pops for our collections (and yes, I’m looking at you Grand Admiral Thrawn). So, let’s look at a few other characters I’d love to see.
5. BT-1 and 0-0-0
These fan favorites first appeared in the Marvel Darth Vader comic series. If you’re not familiar with them, just imagine C-3P0 and R2-D2… with homicidal tendencies. It’s an incredibly entertaining combination. Since it wouldn’t be hard to modify sculpts they already have, I’d love to see this dynamic duo appear in a two-pack.
4. Savage Opress
I remember hearing The Clone Wars was going to introduce us to Darth Maul’s lost brother and thinking “That’s a terrible idea”. How wrong I was. Savage Opress was not a carbon copy of a popular character. He was well-rounded and positively vicious, an excellent wild card of a villain. Since we have a Darth Maul Pop (several if I remember correctly), maybe it’s time to reunite the brothers and make a Savage as well.
3. Darth Revan
I remember playing the Knight of the Old Republic game with my brother back in the day. Good times. While it is questionable whether or not Revan is still in continuity (we were so close to seeing him make an appearance in The Clone Wars until it was vetoed by George Lucas), he is just too incredible a character to ignore.
2. Embo
First introduced in the appropriately titled “Bounty Hunters”, this Kyuzo bounty hunter instantly became one of my favorite characters of The Clone Wars. He stole every episode he was in. I still have my fingers crossed he may make an appearance in the Rebels. He would make an absolutely impressive Pop.
1. Cad Bane
Fifteen years ago, if you asked me who was the coolest bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe, my answer would inevitably be Boba Fett. Since The Clone Wars however, Cad Bane now holds that honor. Inspired by Clint Eastwood’s Man with No Name, he swaggers through every scene with dark charisma and confidence. I absolutely need a Cad Bane Pop, which is why he gets the top spot on this list.
Are there any characters I’m forgetting? Chime in below and share your thoughts.
