The coolest thing about collecting Funko’s Pop! Vinyls is how diverse the line can be. Your favorite characters from television, movies, and comics are interchangeable with a beloved musician, wrestler, or athlete. I know everyone must have a wishlist of figures they’d love to see happen. With the exclusives and Specialty Series, I don’t think anything is too much to wish for now.
This week brings us the release of the much anticipated Logan, the tenth film in the X-Men franchise, and according to early views, it seems we’re in for quite a treat. The X-Men has one of the most expansive line-ups of characters from any superhero team, and even after two waves and several exclusives, Funko has only scratched the surface of what they can do. So in honor of the new film, we’re going to look at a few other X-Men characters we’d like immortalized in Pop! Vinyl.
5. Bishop
We already have Cable (and what a great job Funko did there), but there is one other time travelling X-Men we want. Whether as a hero or a villain, Bishop is wholly compelling. Brand his stylized face with a giant M (for Mutant), arm him with a giant gun, and make his free hand out of transparent red plastic to represent his power, and I think we’re heading in the right direction.
4. X-23
The beloved clone of Wolverine, X-23 is about to make her debut in the X-Men Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Logan. Originally created for the X-Men: Evolution animated series, she proved so popular that she was quickly introduced into the comics, and the rest is history. Much like Wolverine and Deadpool, it would be easy for her to sport several variant outfits, such as her gray-and-black X-Force uniform or her all too familiar All-New Wolverine duds.
3. Nightcrawler
Kurt Wagner is, without a doubt, one of the most endearing X-Men members. So far he has made an appearance in two X-Men movies, as well as every animated series, and is a staple in the comics. I honestly would like to see a more dynamic pose with the character, or at least give him one of his swords to play with.
2. Rogue
A cornerstone character of the X-Men lineup both on and off the screen, I’m honestly surprised we haven’t seen the likes of Rogue yet in Pop form. Though her look has changed over the years, in keeping with the rest of the figures, I would stick with the Jim Lee style of the green-and-yellow bodysuit and jacket, the very same look featured on the animated series.
1. Gambit
Once one of the most popular X-Men characters (and a personal favorite), the Ragin’ Cajun has had ups and downs over the years in both popularity and storytelling. I can’t think of anyone we need more, featuring his brown trench coat, bo staff, and several glowing playing cards.
So collectors, would you like to see another wave of X-Men characters, or would you rather see some other comic heroes? Are there any X-Men I have neglected?
