Disney’s decision to make “live action or cgi” versions of 2D animated classics has been slightly controversial. But to me, I don’t mind. If I don’t want to see it, I just won’t. If I do, it won’t change my opinion of the original. However, there’s clearly a market for it after recent hits such as Beauty and the Beast. In the next few years, Disney has at least 5 of these new versions of animated classics coming to theaters.
One that is showing a lot of interest if for the Lion King. Here’s the full trailer that was just released.
Funko certainly isn’t one to be left out of the revenue possibilities and they will be releasing new Lion King pops based on the 2019 movie.
And now for the Flocked versions. Funko has announced just 4 of the 5 will have a flocked version.
Flocked Simba (Box Lunch)
Flocked Scar (FYE)
Flocked Timon (B&N)
Flocked Rafiki (Funko-Shop)
Funko has shown such improvements in designs in the past couple of years so I’m very impressed with the look of each. Now as a Disney fan, will you be adding these to your collection when they go on sale?
What about POP! figures for Disney’s 2016 live-action remake of The Jungle Book as well as some POP! figures for Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Pokémon: Detective Pikachu? I want those POP! figures to happen and we haven’t gotten the new Jungle Book 2016 POP! figures three years ago! I also want more POP! figures for Disney’s 2019 live-action remake of The Lion King!
It’s great! I wanna see more stuff from Funko for Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King like some plushies, Mystery Minis figures and more POP! figures for characters like Nala, the Hyenas, Simba and Nala as adults, and a 2-pack with Timon and Pumbaa!
