Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss Pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything Pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion. Rocket with Baby Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.
#155 Star-Lord with Mixed Tape (Box Lunch) (Underground Toys)
Being my birthday month kind of influenced the last two weeks of Pops. I’ve been really wanting the newer Gold Chrome Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon. Crossing my fingers this weekend. So this inspired me to discuss Rocket last week and Star-Lord this week. Star-Lord turned Chris Pratt into a superstar. The character is hilariously funny but also pretty complex. He’s been through a lot of crazy stuff in his life. This has led to his love of music. Music plays such a huge part in both Guardians films and is integral to the Peter Quill character. Of course Funko capitalized on that with this great Pop. It’s legit kind of the quintessential Peter Quill. Rocking out to his favorite tunes with his Walkman, treasure hunting in that sleek red trench coat.
I’ve never seen this Star-Lord Pop in a store otherwise I’d definitely own it. It was released in 2016 and is part of the first Guardians of the Galaxy set. Within the United States it was exclusive to Box Lunch and in Europe it was an exclusive to Underground Toys. Right now it’s roughly going for $15.00 on eBay and Amazon. If you’re a Star-Lord fan you should definitely think about adding this Pop to your collection. It’s one of the best variants available. Make sure you listen to some sweet 80s music while you scour the inter webs looking for the best deal.
