Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion. Iron Man from the Avengers: Age of Ultron set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.
Discussion: The Marvel Cinematic Universe owes a lot to Iron Man. Just over 10 years ago it all started with Iron Man. Since that film, Iron Man has been featured or cameoed in eight other films bringing the grand total to nine. Iron Man has been in nearly half of the movies in the MCU. And here’s the thing. The character with Robert Downey Jr. killing it every time is a money printing machine. He easily one of the most popular Marvel characters out there and he always garners interest from the fans. Of course, in Avengers: Age of Ultron Iron Man plays a huge role because he helped create Ultron who wrecks everyone while having Scarlet Witch mess with our heroes minds. The events of Sokovia really mess Tony up and he blames himself. Everything that comes after is him trying to repair the mistakes he made.
What’s kind of interesting about this specific Iron Man is that I think he’s the first version of the character that breaks the mold. The previous ones all have the same exact stance which gets boring especially for collectors. This version is a fresh, action type stance which looks fantastic! He’s using that propulsion from the suit to take flight and I really dig it. We’re now pushing near four years since Iron Man was released and in doing some research I was very surprised to learn that he’s been vaulted. I guarantee you if you’re traveling around at conventions and you come across booths selling Pops, this one is going to be at least twice the cost of the original retail price. Checking eBay I’m seeing prices $10.00 – $20.00 but I’m pretty positive this one will be increasing in cost very soon.
Trivia: Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and win. If you become the weekly champion you must choose a Pop within the MCU that has not been featured in the Flashback Friday series and post it after your answers. The questions are from Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Q1: Which two characters created Ultron?
Q2: What’s the name of the doctor that helps Ultron create Vision?
