Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss Pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything Pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion. Loki from the Thor: The Dark World set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.
Discussion: It’s no surprise to me that Loki has a ton of iterations from the Thor: The Dark World set. This is Loki’s third film and after his popularity skyrocketed following Avengers it makes perfect sense. Tom Hiddleston’s take on the Loki character is crazy popular with the fans and of course Funko took that popularity and ran with it. There are officially three versions of Loki in the set but there are four more with the same collection number of #36. If you look at the top of each box you’ll see either “Thor: The Dark World” or “Marvel”. It’s really odd that they have the same collection number but are from “different sets” even though the design looks like they should all be connected to the Dark World. I need to ask someone from the company this question.
Loki was released in 2013 as an exclusive for Fugitive Toys. I have no clue what the production size was but it’s no longer available for purchase through their website. If you want to own this Pop you’ll need to find it on Amazon, eBay, Facebook, or by some other means. Checking recent eBay “Sold” listings you’re looking at roughly $80.00. As Loki continues to increase in popularity this Pop will continue to increase in value. I’m really digging the Black and White Pops and if I ever get the chance for a reasonable purchase or trade you can bet I’ll be adding this to my collection.
Trivia: Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and you get to choose which MCU Pop will be featured in the following week’s column. Please post your pick after your answers. The questions are from Thor: The Dark World.
Q1: What Avenger does Loki transform into while he talks with Thor?
Q2: What are the name of the minions Malekith commands?
Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday and don’t forget to join our Facebook group. Excelsior!
The answer to Q1 is Cap. He turns into Captain America, Thor’s female warrior friend and someone else I cannot recall at this moment.
