Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion. Agent 13 (Sharon Carter) from the Captain America: Civil War set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.
Discussion: Agent 13 debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She was assigned by Nick Fury to keep an eye on Steve Rogers by becoming his neighbor. When things start to go south and the big reveal takes place she’s on Steve’s side 100%. The next time she makes an appearance is in Captain America: Civil War. You can tell by her interactions with Steve that they’ve become a lot closer since The Winter Soldier film. It’s also revealed for the first time in the MCU that Sharon Carter (Agent 13) is actually the niece of Peggy Carter who Steve had a strong connection with from the first Captain America film The First Avenger. This reveal takes Steve by surprise. Agent 13 and Steve also kiss for the first time in the film as Bucky and Sam watch with excitement for their friend.
Agent 13 was released in 2016 which is the same year the film made its way into cinemas worldwide. My guess is that she didn’t sell all that well. Her character hasn’t been very developed within the MCU at this juncture but hopefully as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 are on the horizon she’ll get some screen time to shine. Unsurprisingly, she’s been vaulted most likely due to low sales figures. It’s likely that her value will increase in the future but right now you should be able to get her for less than $10.00. Amazon, eBay, and our Facebook group are some good resources to get the Funko items you’re after.
Fun Fact: Zemo is the first primary antagonist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films to not be an enhanced super-villain. However, the first one ever, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, on Netflix’s Daredevil (2015).
Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and win. If you become the weekly champion you must choose a Pop within the MCU that has not been featured in the Flashback Friday series and post it after your answers. The questions are from Captain America: Civil War.
Q1: Which original Avenger convinces Scarlet Witch to join the fight?
Q2: What is Agent 13’s name?
I hope you enjoyed this week’s column. Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday. Excelsior!
