Today, Funko began contacting subscribers of its Marvel Collector Corps, DC’s Legion of Collectors, Star Wars Smuggler’s Bounty, and Disney Treasures boxes to announce that they were converting them to retail store exclusive boxes.

As of this moment, the location of which retail store will now get each sub box exclusively has not been announced. What does this mean for current subscribers? Your auto-renew has been turned off and each box has a different stop date. Here is the info we have as of now:

  • Marvel Collector Corps- Ends April 16, 2018
  • DC Legion of Collectors- Ends March 2, 2018
  • Disney Treasures- Ends April 2, 2018
  • Smuggler’s Bounty- Ends September 16, 2018

VERY IMPORTANT INFO- If you subscribe to any of these, you MUST login to your subscription to purchase any of the boxes that Funko will still release before it transitions to a retail exclusive. For example, I am a current subscriber to Smuggler’s Bounty. I do not automatically get the Endor box. I had to log in and purchase it. This is also true for MCC subscribers who want to purchase the Infinity War box, Disney Treasures subscribers who want the Adventurers box, and we’re assuming the same of the Legion of Collectors Green Lantern Box (check your account subscribers).

If you are not currently a subscriber, you will not be able to purchases these boxes at this moment.

  1. Thank you for this post. It was not clear we had to order the last box manually. I would have been upset to not get the Adventure box had I not seen this.

Overall this is sad news. I hope the new retail partner is Gamestop. Hot Topic simply does not have enough stores. I live in Chicago, one of the biggest cities in the US and the nearest HT is like 45 min away.

  2. I talked with Funko, and if you are an annual subscriber you will still get the last box without manually ordering as long as your renew date has not come. They have turned off auto renew, but the email says annual subscribers not renewing will still receive the next collectibles box. Your account with say active subscriber. Account holders are people who have had their renewal dates come up and have to manually reorder. The email was confusing, although detailed, so I got with CS to double check. Not sure if this helps at all, ha ha.

  3. More info:
Also, Funko said that if you were a PAST subscriber you could also log in and purchase. On the Star Wars specifically, the email states as long as you are an annual subscriber you will receive all future boxes up until Sept. 16. It simply states your auto renew will be turned off on “your annual renew date.” At which time you will be moved from an active subscriber to an account holder and then, and only then, have to order manually.
My annual renew date is 11/1/18, so my auto renewal still shows active, as it does with all 3 other subscription boxes, and according to Funko customer service and the email, it will stay that way until my annual dates come, and at that time, I would have to manually order; however, all 4 of my dates are after the end dates for each box, so I am good to go.
At the bottom of the emails it has an ACTION NEEDED section and says only if your renew date has past and your account status changed to account holder, do you have to do anything, if this makes sense.

  4. This is very disappointing. I feel that us Disney Treasures subscribers have been screwed over from the beginning, what with the “just okay” content, inconsistent delivery dates, and constant changes to accounts within just the first year.

  5. I’m honestly not surprised. To me, the Marvel boxes always felt like what Funko and Marvel wanted the fans to want, rather than what we actually wanted. And the Disney boxes just smacked of lost interest and poor planning.
