Every year, some of the best and most innovative toys from the previous season are given recognition by the Toy Industry Association (TIA) in the Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards, held in conjunction with the New York International Toy Fair in February. For the 2017 Awards, being held on February 17, 2017 at The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, the TIA has added several new categories, including Collectible of the Year. For the inaugural award in the category, two Funko lines are in the running: Funko Pop! and Funko Dorbz.
Also in the running in this category are Gift ’ems by JAKKS Pacific, LEGO Minifigures- The Disney Edition by LEGO, Num Noms by MGA Entertainment, Shopkins Season 6: Chef Club by Moose Toys, and Tonka Tinys by Funrise.
