Towards the middle of October, I placed an order for this month’s Legion of Collectors box, the first subscription box I have ordered.  I was very excited for the theme, Batman Villains, and was very excited to see what Funko delivered.  Here is a walkthrough of the box’s contents, so while most people should have received their boxes by now, you should stop reading if you want to avoid spoilers.

Every Funko subscription box comes with a pin and patch, this month’s selection featuring Bane and the Riddler.  This was Funko’s first item featuring comic-book-style Bane.

Each box also includes a reprinted comic book with an exclusive variant cover.  The comic was Batman #23.2, featuring Riddler from DC’s Villains Month event a few years ago.  It features cover art from Funko artist Arthur Archer.  The comic was lots of fun to read, as Riddler is one of my favorite characters.

With the Spider-Man box, Funko introduced hats as opposed to t-shirts, and continued this new line with a hat featuring the Joker.  Snapbacks aren’t something that I wear often, so I was a bit disappointed, but if you are big on wearing hats, you’ll definitely like this one.  It has plenty of bright color and its size can be adjusted.

As the Joker is Batman’s most popular villain, of course Funko had to give him two items, the second one being a mug.  It is pretty big and the colors are perfect (I particularly like the swirly eyes), and seems to be of really good quality.  I’m not a big coffee drinker, but I’m still putting it to use as a pen holder on my desk.

Next comes the centerpice of every Funko box, the obligatory Pop! Vinyl.  I was so excited to see the Pop,  because there are a huge number of amazing Batman villains that Funko has yet to cover; such as Ra’s al Ghul, Clayface, and Talon.  However, I opened the box to find that the Pop was . . . a character who already had multiple Pops?

The Pop was 1950s Catwoman, and while it was very well designed and very well painted, I was a little disappointed to see a character that already has,to my knowledge, two or three Pops when Batman has so many incredible villains that Funko has glossed over.  If you’re a big Catwoman fan, however, you’ll definitely love this.

For last, I’ve saved my favorite item from the box, a Two-Face Dorbz.  Harvey Dent has always been one of my favorite Batman villains, especially as he has taken a prominent role in DC’s new All-Star Batman comic.  For such a small and simplistic figure, the detail is great, even featuring scratches on one side of his coin and Two-Face’s signature half-smile.

All in all, I was very pleased with this box.  The Pop wasn’t what I was hoping for, but the other items more than made up for that.  The theme of the next box is DC Legacy, and it will be arriving in January.
