In continuing coverage from NYCC (sorry for the delay, as I came back from the convention really sick and still having to work my “regular” job), here is a look at all of the fun stuff at the Cryptozoic booth.
DC Comics
A lot of Cryptozoic’s upcoming collectibles revolve around the characters from DC Comics, including statues, the DC Bombshells & Lil’ Bombshells lines, and the upcoming DC Mighty Meeples.
Statues
NOTE: The Joker hand statue is a variant of the mass-market retail design, which an unknown distributor. To take a look at the purple-gloved version, and to order/ pre-order some of the statues, you can visit Entertainment Earth.
In addition to the awesome statues, a mini DC Comics Comic Book Rack will be coming out, featuring images of some of the classic DC Comics issues from years gone by.
DC Bombshells/ Lil’ Bombshells
The DC Bombshells and Lil’ Bombshells lines of statues and figures have been VERY popular for Cryptozoic. The Noir versions of Wonder Woman, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn statues (I reviewed Harley here) sold out quickly, and the regular versions of the three have been selling very well, and a Holiday Harley is on its way. The Lil’ Bombshells Series 1 of the mystery tins sold out at the warehouse, and a special limited run of a 1.5 Series has been announced. This is not including the pennants, keychains, and more sporting the pinup girl, WWII era artwork of this line. I personally think these are great lines to collect, and I know quite a few friends who agree.
Mighty Meeples
Coming to store shelves soon, this blind bagged set of 30 DC Mighty Meeples look line a lot of fun, especially for those who play board games often (raises hand). Also on display were the three DC convention exclusive packs, and the Ghostbusters exclusive pack (I will be giving a more in depth review of all of the packs in the near future here at PopVinyls.com). You can pre-order Mighty Meeples over at Entertainment Earth.
Bone
In addition to all of the DC Comics Statues around, there was a lone Bone statue, which looked great.
Board Games
Cryptozoic is well known for their board games, and on display/ sale at the booth were games from Portal and Rick and Morty.
Portal: The Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game
Rick and Morty: Mr. Meeseek’s Box o’ Fun
It was this second game that was available to play-test at the booth. Although I have never watched an episode of the TV show, this elaborate game of lucky rolls and quick-minded actions seems like a perfect fit for any party, especially for fans of the show. I played for a total of about 10 minutes, but it was quite enjoyable.
And that ends the look at what Cryptozoic had on display at NYCC. Overall, great products coming out, and I think collectors will be pleased with the rest of 2016 into 2017.
