Welcome to Flashback Friday: The MCU. In this series you’ll get a review and discussion on some of your favorite Pops and Dorbz from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here, we really appreciate the shared universe so the figures will come from film, television, and streaming.

I’ll be discussing one of the most charismatic, suave, daring, and clever heroes in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also has a certain liking for 80s music and Kevin Bacon. Peter Quill is his name but there’s one other name you might know him by…Star-Lord. Who? Star-Lord, man. Legendary Outlaw.

The Legendary Outlaw known as Star-Lord was first introduced in the MCU in 2014 with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy which went on to become one of the highest grossing films of that year. At the time this film was a huge risk for Marvel. Needless to say the film was a huge success and now the Guardians are a household name. Chris Pratt who was launched to superstardom.

Star-Lord numbered 47 is the Pop I’ll be looking at today. He’s one of three different Star-Lord Pops in the series. Star-Lord was released wide back in 2014 when the film debuted in cinemas around the globe. This specific Star-Lord is the only one with his super cool looking space mask. The mask has the intricate details just as in the film and is highlighted by the red eyes. He’s got the classic red trench coat type clothing with the dark boots and the straps holding items. The space guns really put over the piece as one of the most film to Pop like creations from the Guardians of the Galaxy series. This is my absolute favorite design from the Guardians team and its spot on in every detail.

If you think Star-Lord came alone you’d be way off. He’s joined by Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Yondu, The Collector, Nebula, Ronan the Accuser, and Thanos. Star-Lord, Groot, and Rocket each have multiple variants while Thanos has two. Rocket has four variants and Groot has eight. That’s just the Pop figures. If we look at the Dorbz line each character mentioned above has at least one piece and Korath gets some love.

Since Star-Lord received a wide release he’s fairly easy to get. You can still find him in various stores such as Barnes and Noble, GameStop, and Hot Topic. He’s also readily available on Amazon, eBay, and our very own Facebook Buy/Sell/Trading group which can be found here for all of your collection needs. This Pop currently goes for between $8.00 and $10.00 so it’s a steal if you’re a big fan of Star-Lord, Guardians of the Galaxy, or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I've been an avid Pop MCU collector for the last few years. I've recently focused my collection on Captain America Funko products since he's my favorite Marvel superhero. I've also been collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card game for the last decade. I also run and judge events. I'm into Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Disney, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and WWE.
