Welcome to Flashback Friday: The MCU. In this series you’ll get a review and discussion on some of your favorite Pops and Dorbz from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We really appreciate the shared universe so the figures will come from film, television, and streaming. We’re going to start this series off with my favorite Marvel character, Captain America.
The Captain America #10 Pop from the Avengers set was released way back in 2011 and is now vaulted. The Avengers Series is the 2nd MCU line Funko released. This is one of my favorite Pops because it’s the first Captain America MCU Pop and Captain America is my all time favorite superhero.
The overall design looks really great! They nailed all of the small details of the suit including the red and white striped area over the abdomen and the belt. They even got the white around the shoulders and biceps right. The shield looks amazing and really stands out. Definitely the right color choices. I would have liked to see the costume colors a bit more vibrant. The costume in the movie was so bright compared to what they did in Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I think if the colors were a bit more vibrant then this would be my favorite Captain America Pop.
For those interested in adding this amazing Pop to their collection it will run somewhere in the realm of $40.00 – $70.00 from eBay and Amazon. You should also check out our Facebook group which can be found at this link.
For being the very first MCU Captain America Pop I thought Funko did a fantastic job. The costume looks great and the colors worked well. As a whole the Avengers set is really solid. Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Nick Fury are welcome additions to the team. You also have that ultra rare SDCC Limited Edition Loki. I would’ve liked to see Black Widow and Hawkeye added to the set because they are very important in the story and have become popular characters. I wonder if Funko would consider adding new figures to some of its older sets. Food for thought I suppose.
Check back next Friday for another Flashback. Excelsior!
