This week’s countdown is dedicated to Gotham – FOX’s explosive origin story centering around Commissioner James Gordon, Bruce Wayne, and Batman’s biggest enemies. The show returns from its season two mid-season hiatus this Monday, February 29th, to continue the wrath of villains. Be sure to tune in to FOX at 8 PM for this excellent show. But now, lets have a look at wave one of Funko’s pops for Gotham!
#6: Fish Mooney
While this pop perfectly represents the character of Fish Mooney, it does not surprise me at all that it comes in last in our poll this week. Of all of Gotham’s great characters, Fish is one of the only ones created specifically for the show. She also was not very well received by critics or fans alike. While there are some huge Fish enthusiasts, they are not the majority of Gotham’s viewers so she falls at the bottom of the list. All of that being said, the pop looks just like her and her folded arms perfectly represent her personality. I only wish the pop had encompassed her look at the end of season one with the half-shaved head.
#5: James Gordon
I have to be honest here and say that I am absolutely shocked to find James Gordon’s pop at number five this week – at the bottom of the list! My favorite pop of the bunch and the main character of the series, Gordon is seen flashing his badge and pointing his gun. While no respondents had anything negative to say about this pop, it just did not seem to excite anyone as much as the top few on the list. I think it perfectly fits James Gordon though and I love mine!
#4: Harvey Bullock
At number four we have Harvey Bullock. The pop that I though would fall last this week, it fits in the middle of the pack. Harvey is showcased with his signature hat and overcoat with his hands in his pockets. In fact, Funko nailed Harvey and I see why people like this pop so much after thinking about it, but it still did not get anyone raving like the next three!
#3: Bruce Wayne
Bruce Wayne, the future dark knight, lands at number three this week. While his pop is plain, I think Funko did the character justice. My sister can not stop shrieking at how cute this pop is and I have to agree. Bruce Wayne looks awesome here and respondents agreed. This almost snagged one of the top two spots, but fell just shy of being everyone’s favorite.
#2: Selina Kyle
The early frontrunner of my polls, Selina ended up at number two … just a few votes shy of snagging the win! It is very hard to argue that this pop is not perfect – it just is. It is exactly what Selina looks like – and it seems like everyone agrees with that. Sean McDonough wrote, “Selina is awesome on the show so her pop has to be just as awesome.” Melanie Thomas agreed and wrote, “Of these, Selina is my favorite.” A lot of people really like this pop and it is easy to see why, but it did not grab number one!
#1: Oswald Cobblepot
Easily the fan-favorite and stand out character from the series, Oswald Cobblepot takes top honors this week. Due mostly to how much people love the character himself and how perfectly the pop captured his likeness, this pop took number one right out of Selina’s hands. Ky Blackman wrote, “Oswald is my fave” and Debora Wanamaker echoed his sentiment by saying this pop “brings the swag.”
There you have it! Oswald joins previous number ones (Ross Gellar, Mrs. Featherstone, and Bath Time Deadpool) for our end of the year poll. I really hope Funko continues the Gotham line, not so much with variants but with other characters. I need pops for Edward Nygma, Barbara Keane, Alfred Pennyworth, and Jerome Valeska! Zack Alexander wrote, “I’m so disappointed there isn’t a Nygma pop!” and Matthew Stadtfeld wrote, “I would love to see a Nygma pop, just like everyone else, and Jerome and Barbara are needed as well.” Melanie Thomas hopes Funko “makes one for Alfred.” There are plenty of other characters for Funko to tackle, so I hope to see a wave two drop this year sometime!

I’ve been waiting for a Funko Pop figure of Ed Nygma from Gotham, my favorite TV show. I would especially love to see him in his green suit, bowler hat and cane topped with a question mark.
