First, I’ll apologize for the lateness of this. Vacation then SDCC and a phone in the Atlantic Ocean (albeit briefly) combined to make me lose my original photos but I finally got back on normal footing so let’s get this going. I’m excited to review for you the June Power Up premium box!
The day I opened this I was literally one hour from driving to a beach cottage for 10 days. The USPS guy knocked on the door and I grabbed it as I finished loading the car. I was about to leave it on the kitchen counter when something told me to just open the thing. (Believe me it took less time to open this than it took me to corral four kids into the SUV.)
Let me first talk about something you didn’t see in the picture. These Jelly Belly Bean Boozled. They are jelly beans that have nasty flavors and some good ones. For example, a peach-colored looking one might be peach (duh) or barf or the green one might be lime or grass clippings. Let me just say, I don’t need this kind or risk in my life haha. But my teenagers swiped the box immediately and for the entire drive to the beach, they would each take one of each color and see who got the disgusting one. The entire car was laughing. I’m never taking my 13 yr old to Vegas because her luck in picking was bad. So when the candy in a sub box brings entertainment, you are doing okay!
The Funko item in this box was a Guardians of the Galaxy Dorbz Rocket Raccoon. I was really impressed with the box and the design. They won’t surpass pops as my favorite Funko item but they are a strong complement.
Here’s the official glam shot for those who want to see it out of the box.
I found something heavy wrapped inside the tshirts (which I’ll get back to) and was surprised to find Geek Juice. Thankfully it’s not Zombie flavored. I’m not really a big fan of rotting flesh flavor. Although maybe bean boozled could add that flavor to their Jelly Bellys? This is creme soda which my wife loves. Thankfully I got this photo on her phone before she drank it on our trip. I mean seriously. I’m 0-2 on food products.
I love Groot but i seriously had no idea what this was for besides cuteness. My oldest sarcastically said “Dad, look on the back” and flipped it over. So cords get decorations now? America never ceases to amaze me. My daughter ran and grabbed her head phones for her iPhone and she showed me how her Batman stays on them. Never thought of this but hey, somebody’s rich for realizing cords need love too. So pretty cool!
Now on to the shirts. Most sub boxes give you one shirt made of questionable quality. This box gives you two and I really like both! Even better, both are soft and not too thin. I’m a fan!
The last couple of items are comic books. I dig comics but I go through them in spurts. I’ll build up a pile of ten or more and then read them in one setting. I’m not the biggest horror fan but it was nice. I definitely preferred the Groot. Who doesn’t prefer Groot? All in all, Power Up Box is in my top two of all Sub Boxes. The value, quality and customer service are hard to beat. I didn’t feel like anything in the box was “fluff” and I felt the gang put a lot of work into creating a box worth its price.
