Well, here we go again… another hit/ miss Loot Crate. With this month’s theme being “Unite” and featuring the like of Power Rangers, Marvel, Bravest Warriors, Rick & Morty, and more, I had high hopes for this box, especially after last month’s debacle of a “Fantasy” Crate. Let’s take a look at what this month had to offer.

1. Exclusive- Power Rangers Green Ranger T-Shirt (Flophouse)

I will admit, a lot of my friends, including my best friend Megan, would love this shirt. I personally like the design overall, but it’s not my style. Megan might be getting a new shirt.

2. Exclusive Team Fortress 2 Button Set

No idea what Team Fortress 2 is…. guess that makes me a bad gamer? Pretty cool they got exclusive buttons. Any of you guys fans of the game?

3. Exclusive Bravest Warriors #1 Comic Book

At least I know of Catbug and somewhat of Bravest Warriors. To be honest, though, I wish the exclusive was something actually Catbug. As far as variant comics go, I feel this is a weak one and will flood secondary markets.

4. Rick and Morty 300 piece Jigsaw Puzzle

Another property I am not too familiar with, but this exclusive would be fun even if you don’t know the property…. well, if you love puzzles… which I do. Perhaps on a rainy day I will work on this one.

5. Exclusive MAD Magazine Loot Crate Edition

IMG_4059

UNITE the STUPID. Yup, sounds on par for MAD Magazine. I have not had a chance to open this up, and I might not, as I know some friends who are MAD collectors. Perhaps a birthday gift?

6. Avengers Decal

Okay, this is something I will probably actually use. Loved the movie, drive around a lot, SUV is an Iron Man maroon red. Seems fitting.

7. Exclusive Marvel Sneaker Laces

IMG_4055

Okay, so they made both a color version and gray scale version of these exclusive 48″ sneaker laces. However, looking up close with the gray scale version it’s hard to discern anyone apart. Having them all color would have been nice.

8. Marvel Super Heroes Ice Tray

The only *must have* for me this month is this ice tray… and I don’t even drink! I think it will be a fun conversation piece at the dinner table when I serve my family lemonade or iced tea with floating Thing heads in the glasses.

In addition, Loot Crate is holding a special contest where you can create and share your own marvel-inspired drink utilizing the ice cubes. Pretty “cool” contest… I wonder what the prizes are.

Overall thoughts: While I liked the amount of items we got this month, a lot of them fell flat with me. Yes, it is by far a better crate than some of the others like “Fantasy”. However, the items in the crate, for the most part, did not represent the properties properly. Like one of my friends said, this month will be mostly “friend giveaway” stuff, and I agree. Is it bad enough for me to cancel? Nope, because there was some fun stuff in here for the ~$20 monthly fee. However, I feel Loot Crate is slacking.

Also, what’s the main reason I am not cancelling my subscription? This little nugget, posted on Loot Crate’s Twitter on May 16th:

I do not want to miss out on the exclusive Pop! Vinyls, mainly because the two they have had so far, GITD Groot and Joker Batman, were pretty awesome.
