Did you get the February Loot Crate? This month’s theme was “PLAY”. Unfortunately, this was a pretty lackluster box. Let’s check it out.

This month, the box, when broken down, actually forms a Loot Crate board game, untitled “Crate Packing Simulator 2015”. Object of the game is to get all of your items, including a “Funko” into your designated crate before your opponents. Clever use of the “Rock- Paper- Scissors” Dice included in this crate… but overall, I’m not necessarily impressed.

Now, let’s take a look at this month’s offerings.

1. DIY Munny Figure (Kidrobot)- Loot Crate Edition

Included with this figure are three wipe-off markers, giving possible hours of fun for adults and kids alike. In addition to them offering these in every crate, they are also holding an exclusive design contest for their Looters, with multiple prizes available to winners in numerous categories.

Though the vinyl itself isn’t impressive, the exclusive contest is pretty sweet. I might have to dust off my paintbrushes.

2. Ready Player One Novel (Random House)

One of my friends contacted me and told me he thought this would be the book included in the crate this month. Doing a little research, I realized if this was the book, I would enjoy reading it. Now I have another book on my reading list.

3. Looter Edition SUPERFIGHT Card Game (Skybound Games)- Loot Crate Exclusive

To be honest, I have never played SUPERFIGHT. My friends say it’s a fun game, so next game night we have I am going to check it out. This deck being exclusive to Loot Crate only is pretty cool.

4. Rock- Paper- Scissors Dice Game (Loot Crate Labs)- Loot Crate Exclusive

Pretty lazy, in my opinion. That’s about all I have to say.

5. Hexbug

A mechanical bug. It looks like fun, but not anything to go crazy over. One of four different designs included in this month’s crate.

6. Waka- Waka Poster (Manny Peters)

A pretty cool design of a Pac Man Atari cartridge. However, poster is only 9″ x 13″. For me, a little too small to make room for on my walls.

7. Firefly Online Premium Ship Unlock Code (Quantum Mechanix)- Loot Crate Exclusive

It looks like Firefly is coming to a Firefly Online game, and Loot Crate subscribers get a chance to pilot an exclusive ship in the game, directly from Loot Crate’s fan video “The Verse”. I am a Browncoat, so I might have to check this out.

Overall, though this box was worth the $20 subscription fee, I do feel that it was lackluster compared to crates in the recent past. Does it mean I will stop getting Loot Crate because of it? No. However, I think they could have made a couple of these items a bit better for the crate.
