For new collectors one of the biggest frustrations is finding Pops you like. Your local Barnes and Noble and Hot Topic are awesome but sometimes you have to do some searching of reputable online retailers to find some great pieces. We recommend all the sites you see on the right side of the screen. One of those retailers, Popcultcha, has a great preorder up now for a pretty awesome Pop: Reverse Flash! Click the photo below to order it. Popcultcha is a highly recommended company based in Australia and will receive these items in May.

Now this isn’t a new piece. In fact it was released in May of 2013 as a ToyMatrix.com Exclusive limited to 2000 pieces. Here’s the original release figure with the ToyMatrix sticker on it.

Now,how many Popcultcha has available for preorder, I  do not know but being that it’s been over a year since the original release, it’s pretty apparent this is a re-release. Now from our understanding, Funko now considers exclusives to be “region exclusives” which isn’t a new concept in merchandising. It is a rethinking of Funko philosophy. The issue isn’t a simple ” black and white issue. For collectors who overpaid in the past because they thought the item was retired, this is a problem and can cause some collectors to turn away from Funko. On the other hand, Funko is a business and when the company’s popularity explode, it seems silly to think they would turn away international money because some kid in his basement bought 200 exclusives in hopes to flip so he can buy a new car.

My primary problem with this particular re-release was that it was announced as a LE 2000 and that’s still info on ToyMatrix’s website.  There needs to be some company integrity when you slap a LE number on something. In that regard, I find this a troubling move from Funko.

Our advice for collectors moving forward is to not freak out over a brand new exclusive if you miss out on it. There’s a chance it will pop up somewhere else overseas.   While I don’t agree with redefining what an exclusive is after the fact, Funko has done it and we should just move forward with that knowledge. And as always, collect what you love….and don’t be a greedy flipper. Funko might crush your new car dreams.
