Evening all! Welcome to another Thursday Night Highlight brought to you by esbjo_figs over on Instagram! I’m just going to get right into it tonight since honestly I forgot today was Thursday. Getting old I guess… Here we go!

Elsa from the Pop! Disney line. Metallic Magneto (HT exclusive) and Professor X from the Pop! Marvel line. The inspiration for this photo came to me when I was looking at my Pops and trying to figure out what shot to create next. Normally there’s no game plan going into the photos I take. I just go to the one or two… ha kidding. The six or seven places I have Pops located throughout my house and try to think of a quick idea to capture on my cell phone and bring to the masses. Naturally I had just purchased Magneto and Professor X and they just happened to be located near my Frozen Pops so I put two and two together and made this! Elsa at her core is a mutant, no? So why wouldn’t these two try to recruit her for their respective alliances? Professor X wants to show her compassion and that they can do good with their gifts while Magneto wants to remind her of her tortured past and how her parents locked her away and maybe even throw in her brat sister banging on her door every day to build a snowman. This picture was also so well received on the Funko Trading Group page that I thought I’d lead off with it tonight. Do you wanna become an X-Men? Sing it like the song… you know you did.

Stitch 626 from the Pop! Disney line. Groot, Starlord, Drax, and Gamora from the Pop! Marvel line. Another Marvel/Disney mash up and I literally didn’t realize that until I started writing this sentence. I purchased Stitch earlier this week and I was actually watching Lilo and Stitch with my kids this past weekend and they mentioned the word “Galaxy” so much that when I finally had Stitch in hand that word immediately popped into my head and I thought he made the perfect Rocket substitute. Not like anyone could replace Rocket, but Stitch could give it a try. And since Disney owns Marvel I wouldn’t put anything like this past them.

Edward Scissorhands from the Pop! Movies line. Edward was the third pop I ever purchased. I have loved Johnny Depp since I was a young teenager so I was crazy excited when I saw this Pop on the shelves at Newbury Comics so many years ago. That’s how Funko gets ya! They tug at your heart strings with things you loved and bait you in and once they have their hands around you they release all these other awesome pieces and suddenly “I’ll just buy these two and that’s it” becomes “Well… I gotta have this one to complete the set. Who cares if I don’t even like this character. I NEED IT wife!” Well Edward looks sad here, and he was sad in the movie, and the movie ended sadly, and “Fix You” by Coldplay is sort of a sad song, and with the trees in the background blurred out it kind of just all went together.
