A week away from Christmas and I already opened my first present to myself this holiday season… the December Loot Crate! For me, one of the best Loot Crates to date. Celebrating some major anniversaries in 2014, the crate contains items from DC/ Batman (75th), Marvel (75th), Ghostbusters (30th), Tetris (30th), and Simpsons (25th).
Let’s take a look at this month’s offerings.
1. “The Joker Batman- Batman” Pop! Vinyl- Loot Crate Exclusive
A lot of December Loot Crates were sold because people were hankering for this Loot Crate Exclusive Pop! Vinyl. I, for one, am not disappointed. This Batman…. or Joker?… is awesome. The colors pop on the Pop! The box art on the back is fun if you are an in-box collector. All around a very strong exclusive.
2. Batman Endgame Issue 36- Loot Crate Exclusive
While I am not an active collector of comic books, I do love me a good exclusive variant cover, and this one is pretty sweet. I really dig to red, grey, and black contrast. Solid artwork.
3. Ghostbusters Door Hanger- Loot Crate Exclusive
Each crate comes with an exclusive Ghostbusters door hanger, and it looks as though there are (at least) two different designs: Slimer with Warning, and Stay Puft w/ streams. While not a strong exclusive, I like the fact that there are different ones that can be gotten… makes the collector in me want to catch them all.
4. Simpsons Mighty Wallet
This is a wallet… made of Tyvek (a housing material), and claims to be “incredibly strong and resistant to tears and stains”. Featuring the cast of the Simpsons for their 25th Anniversary, I will put one of these suckers to the test when I take it on vacation with me to Walt Disney World next month.
5. Tetris Sticker Set
Tetris pieces in sticker form…. ‘Nuff Said. These will be very fun to use.
6. Dancing Groot Crew Socks- Loot Crate Exclusive
As excited as I know people are about the Pop! Vinyl, I also know these socks will be a runaway hit. Groot is VERY popular right now. They look like very fun and comfy socks.
7. Captain America Air Freshener
Another Marvel offering (pictured here with a mini candy cane and December Loot Crate button), this air freshener is vanilla scented. That’s about it.
Finally, a fun extra is this month’s crate itself, which can be transformed into Batman’s Cave.
Overall, I feel it was a solid month, especially given the $20 price tag. Could a few things have been better? Of course. However, I think everything is fun. A great way to end 2014, and I look forward to 2015.
What will 2015 have in store for Loot Crate? Well… we don’t really know. With Loot Crate doing more and more exclusives, including exclusive Funko Pop! and Mystery Minis and exciting movies, TV shows, comics, and toys coming out next year, we could be in for some real treats.
