Earlier this year, PopVinyls.com and Funko gave me the opportunity to visit NYC with the new Ghostbusters Pop! Vinyls for a very special photo shoot. Yesterday, I was back down in NYC for Part 2 of the shoot. Why? Winston finally arrived with Ecto-1! They celebrated in the morning in front of the Firehouse, which was their headquarters in the two movies.
The firehouse, home of Hook & Ladder 8 out of the Tribeca neighborhood of downtown Manhattan, is still a working firehouse, and the firemen had a call while I was doing the photo shoot. I think they decided to pose themselves while closing up the firehouse.
When we got done in front of the firehouse, the guys decided to celebrate again at another venue, but first they had their own calls to deal with. Since it was Halloween the next day, some of the Pop! ghouls were out for mischief.
Peter found himself down outside of the United States Courthouse, where the “ghost with the most”, Beetlejuice, was wanting to wreak havoc on the justice system.
Down the street, Ray was dealing with Boo-Berry, who was haunting the grounds of Trinity Church (made famous in the movie National Treasure).
Over in Queens, Egon and Slimer went to help Agent Jay fight off an alien ghostly presence in Flushing Meadows, but Slimer decided that Egon had to deal with a slime mess first.
Meanwhile, Winston mistook Bilbo Baggins (who was invisible because of the crowds) for a ghost over on Ellis Island. Bilbo was there trying to see if any Bagginses, or hobbits for that matter, came into the US via Ellis Island.
Finally clean, Egon and Peter were called to New York Harbor, finding The Mayor from The Nightmare Before Christmas trying to figure out how to become the new mayor of the city.
Speaking of Nightmare, Oogie Boogie was over underneath the Brooklyn Bridge trying to find ways of taking over the city himself. Luckily Ray and Winston found him.
With all of their calls taken care of, the guys finally gathered to celebrate them being together with one of their leading ladies from Ghostbusters 2: Lady Liberty.
I would like to take this time to thank Allison from Funko for her help in finding Winston and getting him to NYC with Ecto-1, as well as her support with these and upcoming photo shoots. We have some fun ones planned for the rest of 2014 and even into 2015. Stay tuned to PopVinyls.com for more fun!
Happy Halloween!
