For those of you that have been following the “This Box Leads to Madness”, you may have noticed a cryptic tweet from their Box Leads to Madness twitter: “On the tenth day of the tenth month, the stars align…” Fans have been making guesses as to what this could mean since the tweet went up on July 21st.
Today, it was revealed just what Mezco has in store for fans of Living Dead Dolls, a party for the release of the new Living Dead Dolls book!
From the official press release:
Prepare yourself for the spookiest literary event of the year that’s sure to make Halloween look like Christmas! On October 10th, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square, together with Mezco Toyz, will host a VIP party that celebrates the release of the long awaited Art of the Living Dead Dolls book.
A ghoulish homage to the world’s longest continuously running series of horror themed collectible dolls, Art Of The Living Dead Dolls focuses not on the dolls themselves, but on art inspired by and featuring the dolls. The luxuriously printed book contains 100 spine tingling pieces of artwork from more than 80 terrifying artists of the bizarre and macabre, in un-dead color.
Art Of The Living Dead Dolls features a forward by the legendary Basil Gogos, the famous illustrator best known for his terrifying portraits of movie monsters. It also contains creations by renowned artists such as Joshua Hoffine, Angus Oblong, Dan Brereton, and many more. One thing is clear: this is a book you won’t want to read in a shadowy room.
The VIP book party will take place during New York Comic Con’s inaugural Super Week the night of Friday, October 10th beginning at 8pm. Free admission will be exclusively granted to fans who are in possession of a Ripley’s Times Square limited edition collectible coin set. Fans who purchase less than a full set of three coins may gain entry by purchasing a discounted ticket (see location for details). Attendees must reveal the coins to Ripley’s staff in order to gain access to the exclusive event.
The focal point of the evening will be an opportunity to meet and mingle with the creators of the Living Dead Dolls themselves; Ed Long, Damien Glonek, and Mez Markowitz. The unholy trio will be available to autograph books as well as pose for photos with fans.
A selection of 13 of the creator’s favorite pieces of art from the book will be transformed into one of kind canvases and auctioned during the event. In addition, 13 random attendees will also be selected to receive special gifts during the evening.
Who else is going to make the trek to NYC for this event?! It is at the same time as NYCC, so this would be a great opportunity for anyone who is already in the city for the con!
