Editor's Note-- I sometimes get behind on watching hit tv shows. For example, I've never seen an episode of Breaking Bad. Don't worry, I'm starting this week! New writer Andrew K. writes this article giving a description of the characters and the scenes each Pop represents. Welcome to the fold Andrew!
Breaking Bad Funko Pop Character Bios
Walter White/Walter White(Cook)/Heisenberg
What would you do if you were diagnosed with lung cancer and your family was in a financial rut? That is what Walter White answers through the six seasons of Breaking Bad. The meth cooking, pork pie hat wearing son-of-a-gun takes you on a journey and he brought his friends and alter egos with him, In Funko POP! form! Under the pseudonym Heisenberg, he is the ruthless methodic meth dealer that the people of Albuquerque and DEA learn to fear.
Jesse Pinkman/Jesse Pinkman(Cook)
The kid with a heart of gold and one of the more tragic characters of the show. As the show progresses you see that he is not as bad as he initially seems. The relationship he has with Walter, or “Mr. White”, as Jesse calls him, is a complicated one, one that would make them seem like they have a strained father and son bond. To finally see him brought to life in POP! form will have many Jesse Pinkman fans yelling his famous catchphrase, “Yeah Bitch, POPs!”.
Saul Goodman
The sketchy strip mall criminal lawyer who meets Walter when judicial actions are required. When dramatic tension is high, he is there to provide the comic relief when needed. Starting in November, Saul will have a show focusing on his life before he meets Walter, appropreiately called “Better Call Saul” on AMC.
Hank Schrader
Walter’s hard ass, aggressive and determined brother-in-law who also happens to be a DEA (Drug Enforcement Adminstration) agent. Throughout the series he tries to catch Heisenberg, unknowingly he was in front of him the whole time. Hank is, in a way is responsible for igniting the fuel in Walter to start cooking meth when he took Walter for a ride along during a drug bust operation in the pilot episode and sets off a series of chain reactions that will take place over the course of the show.
Mike Ehrmantraut
A former Philadelphia police officer who works for Gustavo Fring, his ability to be a private investigator, cleaner, hit man and security has been proven valuable to both Gustavo and Saul. He is a family man and loves spending time with his granddaughter Kaylee, which seemes to be the only reason he continues this line of work.
Gustavo (Gus) Fring/ Dead Gus Fring
A successful business man, owner of a fast food restaurant chain, Los Pollos Hermanos, industrial laundry facility and meth distributor. Gustavo Fring is not a simple man, don’t let his outer apperance fool you. Gus is cunning and ruthless when conducting drug related businesses and will do what it takes to get the job down, even if it means getting his own hands dirty. The secong Gus POP! for those who haven’t watched yet *SPOILER* he gets his face blown in half by Walter and is seen fixing his tie before collapsing on the floor.
Overall I think this series is looking absolutely amazing, probably one of favorites heading into the release date, capturing the essence of Breaking Bad with that Funko POP! charm. If I were to pick a favorite right now, it would have to Dead Gus Fring, capturing a horrific moment but at the same time adding the charm the POP! figures have to them. I hope you are as excited as I am for this series as I am definitely picking up one of each.
