This afternoon, I got confirmation from Allison over at Funko regarding a few things that came up in discussion over at our Funko Trading Facebook group this week:
1. One of our Aussie members, Shawne Ireland, found the new Amazing Spider-Man 2 Pop! Vinyl down under, with a surprising addition:
Prior to this, any press pictures or Toy Fair information did not show the “Glows in the Dark” (GITD) sticker. With this discovery, a few of us, myself included, were hoping that Shawne discovered a new exclusive that would eventually be coming to the states. However, Allison has confirmed that the regular Electro WILL be GITD. At the time of production photos they didn’t have the sticker on it. All of the boxes being shipped out will have the sticker.
2. The Walking Dead Mystery Minis Series 2 hit shelves this weekend. In addition to regular cases, there are also Hot Topic exclusive cases. In both instances, there are characters that are only included in one or the other, and a bunch that come in both. Shortly after release, we got reports of possible issues with the ratios on the side of the box, specifically the Charred Zombie, which shows at 2/24 ratio in the regular cases, and at 1/144 in the Hot Topic Cases.
Allison has checked with production, and the ratios on the boxes are correct. If you look closely, the Hot Topic one is actually clear, while the other is colored plastic. Hence the differences in the ratios, and rarity…. Happy Hunting!
NOTE: All should be good with the Marvel Mystery Minis ratios as well, aside from the apparent typo that shows regular Phoenix at 2/24 on the Hot Topic cases. That should actually be Green Goblin.
3. Last week, Australian site Popcultcha posted Bane for sale. Some of still don’t understand why, but he is VERY popular here in the states. Seemingly, a LOT of our members ordered him from down under. Earlier this week, many members reported getting the same email. One of them uploaded a photo of it.
Funko lost the license? Aside from making all of the members who ordered Bane upset, a question arose as to why the license to produce Bane was lost.
According to Allison, technically the Bane licence was not “lost”, just not renewed when expired, like a lot of us speculated over at the group. Semantics aside, it is confirmed that Bane will not be made anymore. A lot of us basically knew that already, but it still is upsetting to be led on like that. Sorry folks!
I would like to thank Allison from Funko for her diligence in keeping us up to date and answering our questions. I know she is a busy one over there.
Have a great weekend everybody!
