Once again, I was invited to the Lego Collector’s Preview that Lego held at Toy Fair this year. What is exciting is that the Lego showroom is a closed area, meaning you need to be a part of the event or have an appointment to view the showroom… and appointments for media are somewhat hard to come by. However, the Preview, held prior to the opening of Toy Fair early Sunday morning, gives collectors and media a chance to enjoy the showroom and get unhindered access to the new products of 2014.
Ghostbusters
One of the first looks of the event was the Ghostbusters set with Ecto-1 vehicle. Released in 2014 to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of the first movie, this set was the one I personally was most excited about.
Simpsons
Also on hand was the recently released Simpsons House, which is the introductory piece from the new Simpsons line, which will also include a Mystery Minifig series coming out later this year. With Milhouse being featured in the Lego Movie, expect him to make an appearance sometime soon.
Lego Movie
On the heels of a #1 movie release in America and a very successful Wave 1 of releases, later this year expect to see even more elaborate builds from the movie, including Emmet’s Constructo-mech, Benny’s SPACESHIP!, and Metalbeard’s Sea Cow, which itself was a premiere at the event, and carries a $250 price tag.
Star Wars
Some exciting things coming out of the Star Wars line this year.
Microfighters
Star Wars Rebels
AT-AT
Imperial Star Destroyer
2014 Advent Calendar
DC Heroes
Marvel
NOTE: At the time of the event, the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy builds were on display, but we were asked to not take pictures of them. Since then, Lego has released an official picture of one of the builds. I present to you Star-Lord and his ship, the Milano.
TMNT
NOTE: Builds from the new movie were on display, but we were asked to not take photos of them. They are some fun sets for the movie, and I have a feeling quite a few of you will be excited to purchase them.
Disney Princesses
A spinoff of the Lego Friends designs, Disney Princesses features some of the more iconic of the princesses, and princes, in build sets small and large.
Lego Friends
Lego Ultra Agents
Lego City
Ninjago
Chima
Lego Creator 3 in 1
Lego Junior
Duplo
NOTE: One of the pictures had the new Planes Duplo set. Unfortunately, we were asked to not take pictures of it, so I blacked it out before sharing the picture with you.
Which sets are your favorites from the announced 2014 builds?
