Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion. The Collector from the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.

The Collector
#236 The Collector (Gold Statue) (Disney California Adventure)

Discussion: So this Collector is a little bit of an outlier because he’s from the MCU but the box says he’s from a Disney theme park ride. Technically he’s in the MCU or at least that’s what I’m going with. The Collector made his first full film debut in the original Guardians of the Galaxy. He was not in the second film and had a short cameo in Avengers: Infinity War. He basically explains the history of the Infinity Stones to the Guardians before his entire establishment gets destroyed by the Power Stone. Now if you specially look at the Mission Breakout ride in Disney’s California Adventure it’s a little different. Outside of the ride there’s a life size gold statue just like this Pop. The premise of the ride is Rocket helps the Guardians escape The Collector’s museum of strange things.

Golden Statue of The Collector was originally released in 2017. The only place that I’m aware of where you can purchase it is in the Mission Breakout store in Disney’s California Adventure. I believe the Pop retails for 14.99 in the store but if you have a Disney Annual Pass you’ll get a discount. The Collector goes for roughly $20.00 on most online outlets but I’d expect for the price to increase once the park no longer sells the Pop. I’ve been to that store several times this year and I’ve seen it for sale each time. I do not own it yet and I’m sure I’ll regret not buying it once they stop offering it for sale. It’s a cool looking Pop and if you’re a Guardians fan or a fan of the character it’s worth a spot in your collection.

Trivia: Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and win. If you become the weekly champion you must choose a Pop within the MCU that has not been featured in the Flashback Friday series and post it after your answers. The questions are from Mission Breakout.

Q1: Which Guardians character helps the group escape The Collector’s museum on the ride?

Q2: Which ride did Mission Breakout replace in the Disney California Adventure theme park?

I hope you enjoyed this week’s column. Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday and don’t forget to join our Facebook group. Excelsior!

I've been an avid Pop MCU collector for the last few years. I've recently focused my collection on Captain America Funko products since he's my favorite Marvel superhero. I've also been collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card game for the last decade. I also run and judge events. I'm into Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Disney, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and WWE.

  1. I had a friend pick one up at the park for me, he’s a worthy addition to the MCU pops.
    Q1: Rocket
Q2: the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
