Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion. Thor from the Avengers: Age of Ultron set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.

Thor
#69 Thor (Avengers: Age of Ultron)

Discussion: Personally, I didn’t think Thor had that much impact in Age of Ultron. The only important thing he did was give the extra juice to Vision via charging the pod with his lightning. Other than that he was off on some odd solo mission which I didn’t understand that well. He fell victim to Scarlet Witch and then was in most of the team action scenes. I did enjoy his reactions at the beginning of the film when other Avengers were trying to lift his hammer. Other than that I thought he had a very small role in the film and probably wouldn’t have been missed that much. This is the reason I think he only was given one Pop in the entire set. He just didn’t have the impact in the film which deserved more than one Pop.

Thor was released in 2015 which is the same year the film was released in theaters worldwide. It’s an average looking Pop at best and it’s pretty easy to find better designed ones for your collection. For me, there’s nothing that really grabs my attention and in fact the whole thing is pretty generic. Unsurprisingly, he’s not that expensive. A quick search reveals that he’s easily attainable for less than $15.00 which makes total sense from what I’ve already described. Plus, he’s not vaulted yet so there’s plenty of copies out there for the taking. I’d only suggest picking it up if you’re trying to complete the Age of Ultron collection or are a completest for Thor. At this point it would’ve been nice to have a second Thor in the set that was some variation. The only one I can think of is when he’s shirtless coming out of that water inside the cave or perhaps one where he’s in a flying pose.

Trivia: Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and win. If you become the weekly champion you must choose a Pop within the MCU that has not been featured in the Flashback Friday series and post it after your answers. The questions are from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Q1: Which actor was pregnant during filming?

Q2: Which character had the most screen time in the film?

I hope you enjoyed this week’s column. Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday and don’t forget to join our Facebook group. Excelsior!

I've been an avid Pop MCU collector for the last few years. I've recently focused my collection on Captain America Funko products since he's my favorite Marvel superhero. I've also been collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card game for the last decade. I also run and judge events. I'm into Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Disney, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and WWE.
