With the beginning of this week, another New York Comic Con has come and gone. It’s been a busy one – movie trailers debuted, Daredevil confirmed the introduction of Bullseye in season 3, and as always, a veritable sh*t-ton of Pop! Vinyls traded hands. I found the Walmart exclusive Stan Lee figure, as he appeared in his Guardians of the Galaxy cameo; here are my thoughts.
Walmart does not have a major presence in NYC, so it was a nice surprise to stumble upon this item in person. Compared to the two other Stan Lee cameo Pops (First Avenger and Winter Soldier) this one is definitely the most simplistic. The outfit is not much of a distraction, so all the attention goes to the head portion, which is instantly recognizable, added to by the fun update of the futuristic-looking glasses. It may not be as universal a figure as someone like Iron Man or Captain America, but for someone who’s hardcore into Marvel’s comic world and behind-the-scenes heritage, it would make a perfect gift.
