Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion which was chosen by Uriel. Giant Man from the Captain America: Civil War set is this week’s featured MCU Pop.

Discussion: Captain America: Civil War is the only movie up to this point to feature Ant-Man turn into Giant Man. This happens when Ant-Man adjusts his device to make him shrink and instead he becomes the size of King Kong. His movement is heavily hampered and his balance is affected but it sure makes him look intimidating. The whole sequence of becoming Giant Man is summed up perfectly by Mr. Stark when he drops this line “Anybody on our side hiding any shocking or fantastic abilities they’d like to disclose?” I knew when I saw the craziness of the airport scene that Funko had to make a Giant Man figure which was exciting news. What’s even more awesome is that not only did we get one in pop form but we also got one in the Dorbz line which looks just as great as the pop one.

Giant Man

Once news officially dropped I knew the hunt was on. I went to Barnes and Noble, Hot Topic, Target, and pretty much every GameStop in my area with no luck. Just as I was about to give up one of the employees asked me if I had checked with a certain location. I said I hadn’t and they ended up calling for me and sure enough they only had one left. They were able to reserve it for me over the phone and I drove right over and picked up Giant Man for $15.00 I think. I don’t think I’ve ever done that much searching for one pop in the same day before. Once it was finally in my possession I had to get the Dorbz version which I was able to quickly order online and received a few days later.

I’d definitely recommend adding Giant Man to your collection as soon as possible. It’s going for roughly $20.00 right now so anything in that range is what you can expect. However, it’s now vaulted so I’d expect the cost to increase within the next two years especially if the character returns in Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4. Amazon, eBay, and our Facebook group are the best places to check for Giant Man. With our group you can buy, sell, and/or trade so it gives you numerous options.

Trivia: Welcome to our weekly trivia where you have a chance of choosing the pop for the next column. Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and win. If you become the weekly champion you must choose a Pop within the MCU that has not been featured in the Flashback Friday series. This week’s questions will come from Captain America: Civil War.

Q1: Which two original Avengers were not in Captain America: Civil War?

Q2: Which two members of Captain America’s team have a fight sequence with a certain web slinger?

I hope you enjoyed this week’s column. Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday. Excelsior!!

I've been an avid Pop MCU collector for the last few years. I've recently focused my collection on Captain America Funko products since he's my favorite Marvel superhero. I've also been collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card game for the last decade. I also run and judge events. I'm into Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Disney, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and WWE.
