Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion which was chosen by Jeff who answered both questions from last week’s trivia from Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m guessing he’s a big Stan Lee fan because I’ll be talking about the Stan Lee from Captain America: The First Avenger.

Discussion: Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel in general have to thank Stan Lee for creating such a diversified and unique catalog of characters. Here’s a few of the characters/teams he created that appear in the MCU. Abomination, Ancient One, Ant-Man, Aunt May, Avengers, Baron Mordo, Baron Zemo, Black Panther, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Dormammu, Falcon, Foggy Nelson, Hawkeye, Heimdall, Hela, Hulk, Inhumans, Iron Man, Kingpin, Kree, Quicksilver, Peggy Carter, Ronan, Scarlet Witch, Sharon Carter, Sif, Spider-Man, Thor, Vision, Vulture, Wasp, Whiplash, and Yondu. There are 30+ characters and 2 teams mentioned above and that doesn’t even scratch the surface of what Stan Lee brings to the MCU. Stan Lee helps produce or consult on every MCU property and beyond that no one has cameos like he does in Marvel films. So as you can see Stan Lee most definitely belongs in Flashback Friday.

Stan Lee

What really stands out for me are his cameos. He has a cameo in nearly all Marvel films. I don’t believe he’s cameoed on the Netflix or television series such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron First, Defenders, The Punisher, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Agent Carter, or Inhumans. So when it was announced that Stan Lee was going to get his very own pops for the characters he’s cameoed as in the MCU films the collector in me got very excited. Especially when two of the three being released are from Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I currently have both of those sets 100% complete but now I need to track down both of those Stan Lee. What’s really cool is that Stan Lee is only the second pop ever released for Captain America: The First Avenger.

Stan Lee

Logically, after reading the last two paragraphs I’m sure you’re wondering when, where, and how can I get my hands on Stan Lee? Well, you have a few options. First, this Stan Lee pop just like the other two cameo pops are Walmart exclusives. You’ll need to track down the local stores and go pop hunting. I don’t think it will be easy to find because this is going to be very popular and for many, it will be their first Stan Lee pop. I’m sure you’ll be able to find it on eBay really fast and Amazon a bit later. You should also check out our Facebook group here for all of your collecting needs. Buy, sell, and trade all of the Funko items you want. It’s a great community and you’re having trouble finding a specific item it’s more than likely one of our members will have it.

Trivia: Welcome to our weekly trivia where you have a chance of choosing the pop for the next column. Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and win. If you become the weekly champion you must choose a pop within the MCU that has not been featured in the Flashback Friday series. This week’s questions will come from Captain America: The First Avenger.

Q1: How much time into the film is Stan Lee’s cameo?

Q2: Which body of water does Captain America fall into during the film?

I hope you enjoyed this week’s column. Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday. Excelsior!!

I've been an avid Pop MCU collector for the last few years. I've recently focused my collection on Captain America Funko products since he's my favorite Marvel superhero. I've also been collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card game for the last decade. I also run and judge events. I'm into Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Disney, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and WWE.
